It makes for a refreshing change that it is available in the uk and europe first, but hopefully we will hear about the US / Canada Region 1 release soon.
The B2 Region Blu-Ray is also available for pre-order:
Johnny, I have seen the uk dvd Trespass cover and agree! but was not aware there was a date yet for the release, Amazon are not listing a release date? if you have any info on the Trespass dvd please feel free to post it in this thread, thanks!
Sir Florian, I did embark this very morn on a journey, galloping with the magical speed of our castle unicorn 'silver wing the wise', across this fair land far and wide ....and the people they did say, 'YES! Sir Nicolas of Cagealot has once again brought the gift of acting to our grateful land!'
But seriously, I loved it, the peolle i know who have seen it loved it and a few of them preferred it to Trespass, but I could not tell you about Box Office 'success', I do not use it as a measure of success, nor do i think it can be an objective measure of success of how much a film is liked (The Bad Lieutenant is an example of that) and did you see this thread?
Wow! I am in shock that "Justice" has a release date of March 2012 in foreign territories and has yet to be released in the US, whether it's selected theaters or wide release.
I will say though, I do disagree about the success of a movie. I think if "you" like a movie, then in your mind set, it was successful. No doubt about that!
However, in terms of theatrical success, it's very important. Not only to the studio, but to the producers, distributers and actors. The level of success interms of theatrical release will allow the actors more marketability for other great projects and longevity in the industry. This is important especially, if the actor would like to someday, produce or direct. His/Her credibility and movie success will likely contribute to how successful they are at branching off into other formats of the entertainment industry and getting projects signed off on and made.
Unfortunately and realistically speaking, although "Trespass" was extremely entertaining, the movie grossed just under $4 million dollars in all foreign territories. The USA was bismal with a gross of just under $25 thousand.
And, although it's beyond amazing that "Justice" has been released in foreign territories, that is a red-flag as this shows the movie has not been able to secure a distributer for America which is where the studio makes their biggest profits as a huge percentage of movie sales in foreign territories will go straight to their respective countries and the studios will likely see smaller profit margins. But in America, the majority of profits manifests with the studio which is why American releases are important, because studios and producers get a larger return which makes for bigger profits, which enables them to make more movies.
What I don't get is, why both "Justice" and "Trespass" has been given these shafty releases when the movies themselves are quite entertaining and if marketed properly, movie-goers will be eager to see them!
Wow!! I think that's the longest post i've made thus far - LOL!!!!
Lol, congrats Gina, thank you for sharing your perspective!
I guess it also down to artistic success which has to be subjective, and commercial success. the simultanous Twilight movie release def did nothing to help the latter! I also think that it makes a refreshing change for a movie not to be released first in the US, and even though most see America as the centre of the movieverse, the rest of us usually have to play the waiting game every single time!
