Nic is indeed a treasure. His performance in this scene reminds me of Jimmy Stewart. Where is that buried treasure from our childhood days of creative, fun innocence? Let's follow Nic's example and dig it up! Find it's hiding place in that secret clubhouse tucked away in our minds and hearts...

That is a favourite scene for me also, and then what comes later with the spoon.

This clip repeats the scene at the beginning (sorry, couldn't find one without it) and goes into another great scene (I love it...I just love it!) which is quintessential Cage for me!, and finishes with the rest of the spoon saga.

Great post, Lula, so wonderful to see it again, I do love this movie.

Lady T, thank you for posting the final spoon scene, both Nic and Eva Mendes are fantastNIC, it is such a tender scene amidst chaos. Nic is so there with his whole being in the first one, look at his eyes, it's stunning.starry

It may be just my mind but i read into the whole spoon thing a drug related subtext, a spoon dirty not because it had been burnt cooking up heroin, which he tragically became addicted to, but something that stood the test of time the spoon symbolised the innocence and freedom of imagination, childhood, that kind of free self before the debris of life begins to addi its layers over you...and the transcendent love of Terence and Frankie.

The  scene I posted and the one you posted here Lady Trueheart, where Nic says "I just love it" are the two moments in with film when I was kind of catapulted onto a differet reality, in a good way. i am not gonna get these words right, but there was something hyper real about it, seemed naturalistic in a kind of bizarre context, and it was almost as if Nic was adding another level, as if he himself was turning to the camera to say "I love it, I  just love it", it was almost documentary style. ( and it was funny too..worked on lots of levels! ) To me both scenes were so... so clear... i a m using that as more of a poetic adjective, i can't quite get the words... it was like crystal, like my vision went sharp or something.

I think I know exactly what you mean, Lula, and am kind of stunned to read what you say, because I never had a way to put that into words, but when I first saw that scene I wanted to pause and replay, I was mesmerized by him there. Felt like he was talking to me, or the audience, I guess, not like an in-joke but more of a message. Not sure now what I wanted to say, lol, just that it had a powerful effect on me.

Thank you for sharing Lady T, we often seem to be on the same page on many things. lotus

perhaps this is Nouveau shamanic in action?? it is a little like going through a window into another dimension....you know, like those moments in life where it is as if there is a literal tear in the fabric of life, almost as if the air in front of you has been cut with scissors and you step through ( albeit in your mind) into another reality. it is a moment like that for me! starry

Yes, Shamans can open these portals for us, but we must be aware, brave, and quick enough to jump thru! We have to believe in magic, believe in miracles, trust, and step into the unknown... Who ever knows what life will bring? We must turn ever toward what we feel to be our true destiny, and trust the Universe/God/our heart to show us the right path. God never gives up on us, whatever happens in life, and always finds new ways to reach out to us, makes new paths for us -- thru other people, circumstances, events, and our own heart/mind/spirit.

Shamans teach us that we have the power to create alternate realities, as co-creators with God/the Universe, and to share these realities with others if they wish to join us. A good shaman is hard to find, and a hard shaman is good to find (couldn't resist - I was getting way too serious!). Just read the pickle thread, which had me giggling again...

So appreciate all of the shamans who have worked so hard to open portals for humanity, and for me personally! THANK YOU for all of your very hard work and selflessness! Such intelligence and creativity and courage!!! And patience with the rest of us two-headed turtles!

It`s really a lovely scene! It`s like, if he is telling something from his own, personal memories. Like, that part with the "special place", his "castle". Or, when he imagined stories in his fantasy. That`s so wonderful! Thank you for posting this scene from BL:POCNO, Lula. bowsmiley

Nic does enjoy working with Eva Mendes and they do have amazing chemistry on screen.  I've always thought this.

My favorite scene though, in Bad Lieutenant is not with Eva and though I've said this before in another wonderful thread posted elsewhere... my alltime favorite scene....

To The Break Of Dawnnnnn Baby!

Another great scene from the movie, Gina, I love it too. Just thinking as I watched it now that it is quite a scary scene too the way Nic plays it.

Thanks for sharing Gina, this is your all time fave Nic scene from any Nic movie? cool! Gawd I don't think i could name one..thank you for triggering off a glorious line of thought!

Lady Trueheart I agree, there is an edgy tension in this scene as well as that crazy wired humour. Need to watch this again, soon!
