A Question of Genre!

Just throwing this out there to hopefully get some discussion going on the actual film, rather than it's distribution!

Stolen appears to be being pitched a like an action thriller, and looking at director Simon Wests filmography, those certainly seem to be his thing!

So it seems like Stolen is going to be a devastatingly good combination ofaction and thriller, and it struck me that witht eh calibre of Simon West acion films (I mean look at them!) the action elements may be more played up than recent thrillers Nic has been in? (Trespass, Justice

any thoughts?

Great thought Lula, yesterday I just read Stolen is a combination and distillation of Fast & Furious and Taken and from what i have read later it looks like an action film with good storyline which seems to be right up my street...
Con Air and The Expendables 2 pleasehide

I've only seen con air and Lara Croft: Tomb raider from him, but these other movies look quite scary and good too! If stolen would be like that I'm sure it will be great, especially with Nic in it! Trespass I liked, only it was a little weird becouse it is such a movie you have a feeling with, like you know it will end fine. The end do was a little scary at one moment thinking he might die but he didn't. Seeking Justice, though I haven't seen the end yet, I think do was a little better till now, and more thrilling. If stolen will be more than seeking justice, I wonder what it will be like.

Great comments eva, Flo and Tues! flowerface

action without a little something extra doesn't seem Nic like..even in his action roles there is something he brings to his character! So even if it were pure action, Nic's presen in it woudlr ise the bar even higher...for example Ependables (no offense to anyone's views) could have been many many times better if Nic was in it!

Don't foget we saw Nic running across cars Flo! that seesm quite actiony! and Tues ...a Fast and Furious / Taken combo? wow... my expectations are even higher now! chickendance

(sadly i think we can say that Nic is not penclled in for Expendables 2, a cameo role would have been exciting!)

I have seen some of those movies and am a fan of the ones I have seen, Con-Air, well, goes without question, and I really enjoyed The General's Daughter, I think it is a very good movie. If it turns out to be a somewhat psychological thriller it would not surprise me at all, with some twists, too. Bound to be action-oriented, I think.

I saw a preview for the Expendables 2 so I think it will be out soon, no Nic is sad, but Jean Claude is in it!! I will be watching it just for him! Jean Claude and Nic would be one awesome combo by the way!

You really cannot get a true idea of a movie from the stills and clips released beforehand. I saw so much about Seeking Justice and pretty well knew all the plot by the time I saw it and it still surprised me! Same with Trespass.

And I certainly would not turn my nose up at a Taken style movie, I really enjoyed that one. But you are right Lula, Nic always brings something unique and fresh to the table no matter what style of movie it is.
