I guess Sir Nicolas has a way to go before making the 126 movies he said he wanted to make here! But he is making amazing headway towards it with over 70 films and many more to come!
There are lots of film rumours swirling around right now and I thought it would be interesting to start a topic to clarify and discuss them all together!
First up, if people have not seen it, the forum Filmography attempts to give an overview and keep up with Nic's ever evolving body of work!
In my mind, we're waiting to see Stolen, Frozen Ground and The Croods (none others in post prodution?) and on the upcoming slate from the least flimsy film rumours is Frank Or Francis,Wild Side and Marble City ?
Kick Ass 2 is still very much speculation at this stage as the offer hasn't been made to Nic yet.
There are a few film rumours I am sad not to hear more of, notably Hammer Horror's The Quiet Ones, Bruce McDonald's Dark Highway and his rumoureed directorial project The Man Who could Fly
I have been overwhelmed by and couldn't barely get my head around the rumours. This topic is going to rock socks, thank you for coming up with this Lula! Everything will turn out to be superb, is it ok to post anything that can be seen as rumour-related here? Thank you!!!
Lol, me too Tues, Sir Nicolas is clearly in demand!!!writing that post helped me to get things in order a little
I saw this topic to be more about the BIG NIC PICTURE, his general overall filmogrpahy...individual film rumours still deserve their own topics. I aslo began this topic to get a little discussion going on the whole shebang!
Out of the upcomng films slated for Sir Nicolas...what are people most excited to see?
Hi Lula, thanks a lot for explaining this to me, I guess I understand a bit better now.. It is a bang-up idea to have a discussion on the whole thing. I am not going to philosophise about why Frozen Ground is my most looking forward to...
We have dates for The Croods and The Frozen Ground, just Stolen seems to be up in the air now. I imagine it will be announced soon, since it will be featured at a film festival. I remember awhile back a story about a movie called 'The Treasure of Pompeii'. I thought that it sounded interesting at the time.
I really hope they don't wait to long to start on NT3, the longer they wait the harder it may be to get all the original cast back together. I hate it when I get attached to someone in a role and then someone else comes on board. It just would not be the same without them all.
Well rememberd Meg, I wonder what happened to that one?!
Stolen is definitely coming,, now we have the premiere at the Arubaba film fest.
Lady Roxy, Kick Ass 2 has been announced, but Nic's part in it is still only rumoured..the last thiing I read was Nic had not been offered anthing yet..but fingers crossed!
As for NT3.......i hvae not seen anything officially announced on this anywhere! But the world needs another one of these films! are you listening MR J BRUCKHEIMER!
Oh God, that's a bunch of productions!! \(=^^,=)/ We will just have to wait for its release. We might never know, they would come in a year! LoL!! xoxoxo Above all, let's pray for Sir Nicolas' safety and good health. Please pray for it!!!
All the rumours make it appear as if Nic's schedule is non stop, he is certainly working hard, but has always done a couple of movies a year maybe. By all accounts Nic thrives on hard work, he has revealed as much in interviews.
What other actor has been going so strong so continuously for so long?! When Nicolas Cage starts doing less films that'll be a strange day.
It is hard for me to feel sorry for poor, overworked actors, I really don't think it can be that bad. They have lots of down time. The average person works every day and has a few weeks off a year, so a little perpective is needed, I think. A good deal of an actor's day is spent waiting around for their turn. And they get pretty good perks too! Not putting Nic down, just saying it is kind of silly to worry about him overworking. I think it is great that he likes to work, I admire that.
I think, Nic as found a great way to balance everything out, so that, even if he works so much, he always can find a way, not to break down! (Whatever it may look like). I also think, he knows his own body the best, to know, when it`s too much, or when he needs a little break!

Yes Stolen is about to be shown at Aruba Film Fest Roxy
Just to add to the line of discussion, Nic is also a grown man who can make his own decisions and even though it seems natural that as fans we should be concerned over our fave actor's well being, to say that he is over worked or suggest he is making too many films and needs down time (and other things i have read in Nic fandom over time) is only a projection on our part because we do not know this, and do not know what works for him. even if he does work 'too hard' that is his decision!
It seems to me that it is a very up anddown existence Meg, filming is very intense and undoubteldy extremely hard work, and that includes travelling and gruelling schedules. and there are all teh publliitly requiremetns too of course. But as you say lots of down time, which is the counter balance to that incredibly intense period of filming. For me personally I see people working long shifts often 7 days a week in demanding jobs with only a few week holiday a year, for pittance pay, and those people truly are exhausted.
Also as a fan I am not invested in worrying about Nics' film choices I am still really loving his work after all these years..and there is no otherr actor with such an enduring and successful career, so he doing something very right in that department in my opinion!
Just realized that I had always overacted, but that is called foible I think. Ken Takakura has gotten involved in more than 200 movies, and now he is in fine fettle in his eighties, well I have made it clear and certainly this is not just wish If only Nic himself gives us the answer we want, i know as fans, it's no good to foist our opinion upon our favorite actor but appropriate concerns is not impolite I suppose.
