Yeah I found I pretty cool, as the maker says "slightly caricatured", portrait in sand and brown colours, here it is:

Nicolas_Cage_by_Pineman.jpg

I think it looks cool, even not caricatured, I like the eyes just like they really are looking at something!

You are right, Roxy. It was taken from Snake Eyes. Wow, thanks Eva! He looks devastatingly amazing there.

intersting find eva! flowerface

wow..at first glance I thought this looked like digital art, but when i checked the artist (Pineman) out, he talks about the painting effect he uses:

Many of my traditional works will look this way simply because of the way I work.
Let me explain. Every traditional painting I undertake whether it’s acrylics, oils, inks or mixed media; I’ll nearly always plan and manipulate the project on the computer first. This means I’ll do all sorts of things such as removing unwanted background items, changing perspectives and anything else I feel like doing to improve the composition. When I’m happy with things I will then print out a greyscale version to be used as a tonal map and a colour version too. This often means I then have to tape 2,4,6 or sometimes 8 pieces of A4 paper together to give me my source image; depending on the size ( most commonly it’s 20”x24”).I then draw a grid on the art board or canvas and plot the drawing on to said canvas or board. I use the tonal map as my guide for the under-painting. When that’s done I continue from there using my full scale colour printout as my template and guide. All this is quite labour intensive so sometimes I can’t be doing with it all so I’ll leave the project at its digital stage and occasionally if I’m happy with the digital version I’ll post that as a digital painting. A good case in point is my digital painting of Renee Zellweger [link] . If I had taken it to the traditional stage and committed it to canvas it would have looked very similar to the digital version simply because that would have been my template to work from.
