What is your FIRST Cage memory? I'm so curious about what everyone's is. Mine was as a young kid watching VALLEY GIRL with my aunt. And then I saw him again in Moonstruck and was star struck at how different the characters were. He really can do anything!

Welcome davey and thanks for this topic. National Treasure, it was the first film I saw starring Nic, I thought he gave an absolutely amazing performance there.

Hi davey, my first movie that I saw with Nic was Raising Arizona, but I also saw Moonstruck around the same time, and both made big impressions on me, I loved both those movies.

My first Nic-movie, I saw, and liked, although, I didn`t recognized him then, was "Zandalee" a few years ago. I was just fascinated by this hot character, and he made such a huge impression on me, that I still remember that moment, but I didn`t realize back then, that it was actually Nic. That came a few years later with SA, as I became a Fan. :)

Great idea! Well I have 2 memories but as they are very long ago and I was young I don't remember wich one came first. I have one, where I remember watching a movioe about men stuck in an appartement that broke down and they were waiting on help and this man was pulling a pipe and I remember my grandma told me it was good to do when you're stuck and also as they were in the elevator shaft that was a good place to go. And later now as I became a fan I realised that was the world trade center! The other memory is secretly watching a movie my mum was watching and it was abouyt a man on an island to save his daughter but his daughter ran away and as my mum noticed I was watching she explained it was a sect and that his daughter ran away from her own daddy becouse that was the influence of the sect, and in the end the man burned in a wooden man. What I later knew as the wicker man :).

H Davey! great topic! It is very much on topic though, as it is about Nic! Really enjoyed reading everyones' replies! flowerface

I have written a bit about this in my bio and probably mentioned it enough times to bore everyone silly but I discovered the true magic of film and Nic films in particular when i was at university and struggling quite a lot with it...I saw Raising Arizona on a big screen special screening event and have been a Nic fan ever since. Ooh I feel old all of a sudden!

Valley Girl must have been a wild experience as a child davey! chickendance

I didn't see Raising Arizona until I was in college! (I know bad fan!), but i love how off beat his characters were in his early career. I still think he gets a bad rap because he is older know and gets pigeon-holed into a ton of action films. I'd love for him to do another great dramatic, heavy role like Leaving Las Vegas to really show the world he's still got it. Or a Judd Apatow type comedy, but would that be bad? I don't know...Now i want to rewatch Raising Arizona! Thanks everyone for responding!

NICe to see you again davey!

there aint no such thing as bad when it comes to your own personal truth and taste! I don't think you are alone in the comedy or heavy drama desire..have you seen Justice? it kind of itched the scratch of the latter for me ..a little.

Nic seems to be as eclectic as he ever was, so that please someone with eclectic tastes like me flowerface

this is such a cool topic, it deserves a place in the 'Nicolas Cage general discussion' so if you don't mind that will be it's new home (and with a new title).

Please enjoy the rest of our Nic topics here, just dive in anywhere!

Hi Davey and welcome,
My first time seeing an Nick Cage film was National Treasure. I had known about his movies but never got the chance to really see one all the way thru. Until I became a member to Netflix films by mail. I recall seeing ads (of this film) on TV and I thought that this will be a good way to rent it to see this film. Well, after seeing Nick in this film I was HOOKED and was in AWE of Nick's acting and seeing this action film. I love action films and this was great. I soon rented the sequel next and so on. I wanted to see all of his films then and did thanks to my movie rental by mail. Once I love Nick and found this wonderful fan website for him, I started buying all his films on videos first and now on DVDs.

It sounds like most of us were hooked from our first Nic film! thus is the power of the Cage!!

Just to go back to your last post davey, I agree that Nic created some wonderful iconic characters in his early career - do you have a fave? - but he is still the king of quirk..think of Big Daddy, Terence McDonagh (his Bad Lieutenant) and the nuances he gives to his roles. to pigeon hole him as that though, or an action film actor..or 'an anything', does not account for his full range, which is as  gloriously eclectic and wide as ever! If you think of a genre..any genre... he is still doing it all and more besides! starry
