Well, in the beginning, it looked to me like that, and I was a little shocked by, what I read! I guess, that`s why I thought so at first. But, I just read it again more carefully, and, in the end, I think, I have to agree with you, Tues! :)

It does seem to belong here, Tues, as it is about the retrospective of Nic's work at the Brattle Theatre.
Sometimes it is hard to tell if a commentary is complimentary to Nic or not, isn't it? Since so many seem to feel they have to critique him at the same time as they laud him. I think it is one thing to express a personal opinion and another to express it as fact, and that is what so many do. One person's truth is another person's fiction, as the saying goes. Plus, they so often seem to bring up things from Nic's personal history, which has nothing to do wih his work, really. But I did find this article quite interesting to read, and I cannot disagree with these two statements!
"...I mean it when I say that Cage’s range is something to behold, and his ability to leave it all on the screen is just amazing.”
"It’s that spark of anything-can-happen unpredictability..."
It is interesting to read and has some good points but I surely don't agree with these remarks. Just plain wrong.
Over the past 15 years or so, he’s gone from steak tartare to beef jerky, with a big helping of ham on the side.
The man may have stopped working hard, but he certainly works.
Though, using his analogy in rebuttal, I would say he can be as raw and peppery as steak tartar when called for, but also as rare and smooth as a perfectly done porterhouse steak. Beef jerky has a lot of bite to chew on, and a glazed ham is always an attention getter.
Indeed, Lady T.! Because, sometimes there are articles, who has some good things mixed with (sometimes too much) negative things in it! And, of course, these two quotes, you mentioned, are completely ẃrong, as Nic is one of the hardest working actors ( that`s why, he is the best), and, to me, he is always "haute cuisine", and always NICxellent in his performances!
