i really wasn't sure where to put this and it is only a brief tidbit, but I love James Franco and it is synchronicity to come across this just when I have been thinking about SONNY so much..and we have been talking about it here too!

Nic along with other stars interviewed James Franco for Interview magazine:

February 2003—At this point Franco's still seems like a pretty normal guy. Sure, he's mid-way through a very successful superhero franchise and is being interviewed by people like Nicolas Cage for Interview, but he hasn't yet gone back to UCLA to complete his BA. He's just another run-of-the-mill really, really good looking, college dropout actor.

NICOLAS CAGE: When did you first discover James Dean?

FRANCO: I was aware of him in high school.  He still seemed so alive.  He was so relevant to us, as teenagers.  Then, when I started taking acting seriously, I looked at him more from a student's perspective.

NICOLAS CAGE: Describe a scenario where you wake up in the morning and you decide you're not going to act, paint, or anything. You're just going to relax. How would you do it?

JAMES FRANCO: Never. It's impossibility. I don't even like to sleep—I feel as if there's too much to do.

Let's face it folks, James Franco is a Hollywood crush as James Dean, along with Nic. The questions Nic selected for him are quite interesting, and perceptive. You surely won't surprised at Mr Franco answers after reading his short storieschortle

James Franco is a very multitalented human being!  I liked Nics' questions too....I wonder how he would have answered the second one..it seems that he and James share that same drive to do what they were born to do. or it is not even a compulsion, just how it is for them, their raison d'etre. I guess like most artists!starry

I would like to have seen more of this interview. flowerface

I would love to read the whole thing too, and also it occurs to me that Nic interviewing anybody would be a real treat to read or/and see!

This is new to me Here is another little bit of this interview I found online.

Nicolas Cage: I was impressed by the intensity of your research process for "Sonny." I might even say you put yourself in danger when you were meeting those gigolos. Did you ever feel fear?

James Franco: A little bit. When I research a role it does get a littlecrazy and maybe even a little stupid. I never want to say, "I held back here," or "I could have done that but I didn't." Nothing bad happened to me [researching "Sonny"]

Excellent find!  Cool to see Nic on the other side as an interviewer!  I enjoyed Franco in Sony as well as the Spiderman movies, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Eat, Pray, Love.

He truly is a great actor.
