Since we have been talking here lately about Nic's acting methods and his style, I thought this would be an interesting little clip to post, from the Bad Lieutenant promotion time period.
That is really an interesting vid! How he speaks of his role as "Terence" and going "outside the box" is really informativ! Thanks for posting it, Lady T.!

This is a neat little clip, thanks for posting Lady Trueheart! I much prefer 'outside tho box' than 'over the top' as a description, but both imply some invisible line has been placed for what is considered the norm ...and surely there is no such thing in art... freedom of creative expession. Nic is the only actor I have heard talk about this often, in acting... and the actor being an artist ( afterall, films are 'moving pictures' ). some of his most exciting roles for me have been so called out of the box performances!
In case anyone is interested we have discussion topic about the most 'out of the box' Nicolas Cage performances here!
I love how Nic talked about NOT staying inside of the box. I enjoyed this piece - thanks Lady T!
I suppose we can put a name on it like 'over the top'... but really, I think Nic's right. In order to keep it fresh, you have to go outside of the box. Especially to Nic, as an actor. To avoid, as they say, 'phoning it in', it's essential that you put your spin on each, individual character, and give it your stamp. That's what's so amazing about Nic. He gives each character he plays, his own stamp of authenticity.
