This is a really good idea for a thread, Flo, and I greatly enjoyed looking at your selections. You must have spent some time getting all the clips together and making your post. Nice job! I haven't seen all the movies you have listed but I know that The Departed will be on my list too, and Lost In Translation, boh movies that I love. Was cool to see Leslie Nielson on your list, he is a Canadian icon, you know, sadly he has gone from us but he did leave a great legacy of laughter. I would have put I Am Legend on my list too, save for
Spoiler
what happened to the dog
, made me too sad to ever want to see it again.
And I am also looking forward to The Artist too, the concept is exciting to me.
I need to make myself a list of movies and start searching for clips now!
Wow seems like we have the same taste in movies meg!
I know what you mean at i am legend very sad! Also very sad that leslie nielsen died what a funny guy. Yes it took some time to finish it and i just found a few more movies i added. Im excited how youre list will look like.

Wow, this is wonderful Flo! what a great post, and one that is going to get us all thinking!!
You have created a quality list of films here...triggering off what mien would be..No Country For Old Men is a standout movie, but it is not my fave Coen bothers film..Inception has to be one of the most intelligently crafted movies I have seen in recent years and yet it is not a favourite somehow..Lost In Translation is my favourite Sofia Coppola movie too...interesting to think what makes a fave movie, ther are so so many absolutely classic and brilliant movies ..but for me there has to be a special memory or connection that somehow embeds it as a favourite of mine. Right....I am going to write a list in no particular order or genre because i know if i go away and over think this i will never get a list together!!
Some of these will probably seem odd! And there are lots of other amazing films! But all these films have personal meaning or significance to me, whether because I saw them when i was really young and they blew me away, or a memorable trip to the cinema, or they had an impact on me, or they somehow left an indelible impression on me!
these are random, oh so random..... and across all time!
2001: A Space Odyssey
The Wizard of Oz
Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Blade Runner
The Fly
12 monkeys
Planet of The Apes (the original )
A.I Artificial Intelligence

ahhh there are loads more and need to think of fave romance films and comedies...
I think i have seen almost everyone of them and i dont know how i could the truman show forget, what an outstanding movie.
I know what you mean all these movie i listed have a personal or other meaning to me, it would take years to describe those memories for every movie.
Lol! it so would flo, thanks for giving me a pleasant trip down memory lane today, films are really magical in that way! and my list here was just what came out there and then, I'm sure i will remember more later!
I love films that have shifting levels of reality and the Truman show does that in such a powerful way! all time epic film!
I had lots of fun looking for these clips, a great trip down memory lane, though I find often the trailers do not give a real impression of the movie's depth or impact.I have more too, I will post again!
One of my all-time favourites with one of my all-time favourite actors. A movie everyone should experience.
As a fan of old movies, I have to include some of them. This one is possibly one of the funniest movies ever to me, sheer gold!
A very scary ghost story, strong performances.
Another haunting ghost story.
So beautful, I love this movie.
I have only seen this once, but it left an indelible impression on me, the cinematography and grace of it.
This is when I first fell in love with a man chomping on a cigar, so I have to include it! Plus, the music! The poncho and the hat!
Who can watch this and not be moved, inspiring.
I don't usually go for romantic comedies, but oddly I notice I have several on my list of favourites! This is the first one I really loved, I think, it is charming. ( not sure if this is a proper trailer though.)
I already wrote about this one elsewhere, it really is something special. My favourite this year, so far.
Freakiest Hitchcock movie! I saw this in the theatre years ago and have never looked at birds the same way since.
I can never forget this movie, it is about pure love. And it is beautiful.
Allright, it was realy hard, I don't realy have all-time favourite movies, but I did my best to collect movies I liked a lot, some of them have a meaning some not, offcourse I forgot a lot, but if I would rethink of them I will post them here.:)
Forrest Gump. I think this is a movie, maybe a bit classic, but that doesn't takes away it's beauty, and it's beautiful story.
Predator vs. Alien.
Not forgotten.
Batman.> I like the one with the joker the best, the last one I haven't seen yet.
Grease. Just a classic :)
x-men first class
Marley and me
Thor
Eight below
Pirates of the caribbean. Sad the 4 was so sad
(just posted the trailer of the first)
Jurasic park movies
(just trailer of the first)
Dinotopia
Ring of the nibelungs
And then some movies that are already posted, lord of the rings trilogy, The other guys, and the marvel movies are great to, and I see a lot of movies here who I would like to :) If i remember more I will post it ;)

Thank you Flo, and yes Forest Gump is such an interesting and brilliant movie and story, so many difrent scenes that all come down on one thing, that your life won't be easy but that you have to keep trying, do your best, and never give up. Well that is what I think it comes down on :)

Eva, how ever could i forget Grease!! I remember seeing this at the cinema when i was probably too young to get all of it, and it remains a guilty pleasure to this day, just a brilliant all time stand out musical!!!
Yeah I watched it three times by now, the first time I watched it was in primary school with my class, I realy liked it :) John Travolta is also very hot there!
