This is cool! knight

A great read from Den Of Geek!

http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/923236/a_celebration_of_rickety_bridges_in_movies.html

Season Of The Witch (2010)

Was the rope bridge scene in Season Of The Witch intended as homage to William Friedkin's Sorcerer? It's possible, since the entire plot of Season Of The Witch bears a passing resemblance to that 70s thriller. Instead of a truck full of explosives, it's a barred wagon with a witch inside it that knight Behmen (Nic Cage) must escort to an isolated monastery.

Along the way, the wagon has to be shoved across a crumbling rope bridge that's straight out of Sorcerer. And while the scene isn't shot with the immediacy of Friedkin's, it's nevertheless one of the film's most memorable, tense moments.

The rickety bridge may be a plot device almost as old as cinema itself but, in the hands of a competent director, it's one that can still keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

I loved this scene in Season Of The Witch, utterly gripping and suspenseful, incredibly heroic, with a large helping of the mysterious and supernatural! knight

I maintain my curiosity regarding this event in the movie, as I posted in our discussion here! http://cagealotcastle.activeboard.com/t42404242/season-of-the-witch-film/

That was a cool article, Lula, I enjoyed it. I have seen some of those movies, although I haven't seen Sorcerer,  and I always have to cover my eyes when they are on the bridge.  LOTR and King Kong, both stand out for me, so I guess Peter Jackson 's style is my kind of style too.

But the scene in SOTW is awesome, almost excrutiating is how I remember it, so worried that something terrible would happen. And Behman, he is such a heroic character there.  Cannot wait to see it again!

Glad you enjoyed it Lady Trueheart lotus

I have not seen 'Sorcerer' either (atleast I dont think so, often I think i have not seen a film then half way through watching it realise i i actually have..or maybe it is deja vu chortle)

Yes.....perfect word for the scene..excrututiating and deliciously so, the hallmark of  superb suspense movie hmmm!!

And i must admit my heart does little flip flops when our fearless knight, quietly and wthout ado, braves the dangerous mission to be the first to traverse the potentially perilous bridge, wind and rain (and heights) thrown in for good measure! knight The way he connects with the beautiful white horse ( Dali ) in that scene is also very heart rending stars

He is the perfect knight, isn't he? I love his portrayal of a knight, it is exactly as I would have wanted him to play it.

Awesome one,Lula,thank you for sharingspaceship
I thought SOTW was a fantastic epic filmand i was dying to see it at the cinema when the tease trailer was released on the internet.Unfortunately,I haven't got a chance to watch it in movie theatre..

Is it a homage to Sorcerer? i don't know because i haven't seen Sorcerer,EIther...As for that scene in SOTW,IS it dispensable?Nah,on the contrary,It is a great highlight where instantly i can ''smell'' the air was about to coagulative, and it's harder to breathe
wow Lula,The word "heart-rending" is accurate..I can really understand what a heart-rending thing it must be.Thanks againblowkiss
