Being a mother, I thank you, dear Lula!    Gorgeous painting!

I'd like to share with you what my daughter did last night to honor Mother's Day because it was sooooo cool.  But first this........My mother made her home with us for 16 years until she passed away seven years ago when my daughter was only 10.  Therefore, my daughter and my mother were super close.  "Partners in Crime" so to speak.  They would have daily tea parties and read to each other and giggle in a corner together like two little schoolgirls up to no good, even tho my mother was well into her 80's and my daughter just a wee little thing.  It was a very special bond and my daughter, like myself, misses my mom terribly every day.

Anyway.....last night my daughter decided to make dinner for us, which I thought was my Mama's Day gift.  But, no....afterwards she decided she had to run out for awhile to do some errands.  A short while later she walks into the house carrying two HUGE butterfly balloons.  The balloons were clear but they were decorated in gorgeous iridescent colors.  I was delighted thinking that she remembered how much I love butterflies and also, for some strange reason, balloons.    She then told me what we were going to do with them....and that was this...........

We were to write messages to my mom, attach them to the balloons and then go outside to send them up to heaven!   I started crying at the fact that my daughter has such a big heart to even think of such a thing!   So, with tears falling, I sat down, wrote a message to my mom thanking her for helping me to raise such a delightful young woman and telling her how much I missed her and then my daughter and I took our balloons outside, said a prayer, and let go.

I wish I had taken a picture of those gorgeous butterfly balloons sailing off into the sky.  It was a beautiful moment in time.

That is a beautiful image, Lula, and an inspiring message. Thank you.

White Fay, your Mother's Day story made me cry, it is so wonderful. Your daughter has a lovely spirit, which upholds your own mother's memory. Thanks for sharing with us.

I am interested in what was apparently the original Mother's Day message, which was for peace, and a call for a stand against war. Have you ever read it ? It is very powerful. Maybe some day it will come to pass.

Mother's Day Proclamation

by Julia Ward Howe

Arise, then, women of this day!

Arise, all women who have hearts,
Whether our baptism be of water or of tears!

Say firmly:
"We will not have great questions decided by irrelevant agencies,
Our husbands will not come to us, reeking with carnage, for caresses and applause.
Our sons shall not be taken from us to unlearn
All that we have been able to teach them of charity, mercy and patience.
We, the women of one country, will be too tender of those of another country
To allow our sons to be trained to injure theirs."

From the bosom of the devastated Earth a voice goes up with our own.
It says: "Disarm! Disarm! The sword of murder is not the balance of justice."
Blood does not wipe out dishonor, nor violence indicate possession.
As men have often forsaken the plough and the anvil at the summons of war,
Let women now leave all that may be left of home for a great and earnest day of counsel.

Let them meet first, as women, to bewail and commemorate the dead.
Let them solemnly take counsel with each other as to the means
Whereby the great human family can live in peace,
Each bearing after his own time the sacred impress, not of Caesar,
But of God.

In the name of womanhood and humanity, I earnestly ask
That a general congress of women without limit of nationality
May be appointed and held at someplace deemed most convenient
And at the earliest period consistent with its objects,
To promote the alliance of the different nationalities,
The amicable settlement of international questions,
The great and general interests of peace.

i feel very sorry to hear that your family have suffered such a heartbreak Lady Fay
i am deeply impressed by what your daughter and youdid,a terrific daughter always be consider as a"warm jacket" for parents.i'd like to pay my tribute to her
i wonder whether appropriate to say these words on Mother's Day.i was broughtup by my grandmother, my grandma was a pious christian.the only reason i live was i loved her,she always told people that i was her little dh,i wish she could receive my gift,but...i had been so rebellious in these years,i know the scasr would never be healed..i never went to church cuz the one seated next to me....the sight was enough to make me cry harder.i may murmur her name while sleeping and then wake up,bury my face ito the pillow, and let my tears run out

apart from tears, only time could wear everything away.an behind the tears is toughness.though it grieves you to leave her,you must press on.hope your daughter and you Cheer Up!

OH dear Tues........

The love you and your grandmother shared can NEVER be broken, no matter what has happened in the years past, or how much heartbreak or anger lingers.  For love is an enduring energy.  It exists and cannot be severed.  Yes, it can be tested and perhaps turned away from but it cannot be eradicated.  EVER.

If your grandmother is still alive it is not too late to send your love to her in a phone call or a letter or a simple card.  If she has already traveled into the next, you can still send your love to her....simply by talking to her as tho she sits in front of you, lighting a candle for her, speaking of her to others (as you have here) with love or.......perhaps sending your love to her in the way my daughter and I did just yesterday....by sending a balloon to her with a note attached.

Have no doubt that she WILL feel the love and that, in her own way, send it back to you.

No tears of pain and regret, dear Tuesday.

Shed only tears of joy for having loved.

Blessings to you and yours and to all who read the words written here, Bonnie
