my friend and t'ai chi teacher loves 'Knowing', he's a single Dad and he really feels the way that is perceived, or not even considered, when he meets other parents at the same school his daughter goes to for example. Good to see Knowing getting a big mention here, his comment about his son being abducted by aliens made me chuckle but in all seriousness though, isn't a huge element of the whole movie about John protecting Kaleb, and the ending was even more intense because of it?!
That was a good article, I really enjoyed it. He's a good writer.
It is so true about women and single fathers. I worked in Early Childhood for years, and occasionally a single dad would come along, divorced with custody, or widowed. All the mothers would fuss about them, and teachers too! Why? Because he is so brave, and it must be so hard for the poor man, and let's make him some cookies and invite them for dinner.
Well, I was a single mother for years and no one said to me, here's some cookies and come for dinner, you poor thing! It is challenging being a parent in itself, harder still without a partner to share with, and so I can relate to that part of it.
I must be in rant mode today!
Yes, agreed about the ending of Knowing; maybe the imagery of the children was a little bit over the top but it made me feel better, so it worked for me.
My, I must watch this again soon, I love it so much.
Ooh I loved the imagery at the end of the movie..i could have done with more alien/angels/spaceships/other worlds but actually..come to think of it what makes the film special is how enigmatic that whole part of the movie is...had it been overdone it would lose that.
You and all single parents are amazing life warriors Lady True, with incredible hearts.
