Hard and tricky, Miss Lula, almost caused me to have a brain freeze.
But I know that Bad Lieutenant is my favourite. I do love all the others, but in Bad Liuetenant I got everything Cage I could possibly want, and then some. His performance to me has so many nuances, I really just love watching the expressions on his face. Here we have a man who isn't very nice to begin with, and yet, he is a hero; he is full of avarice and arrogance; yet so empathetic and trying to take care of everything. And he does too...or does he?
That scene with the spoon, it is amazing to watch. His performance moves me so much. All that pain in him.
And who else can get away with " Come back here and watch me F*** your girlfriend!"
Terence McDonagh: Shoot him again. Deshaun 'Midget' Hackett: What for Terence McDonagh: His soul is still dancing. McDonagh dark humor tends to make people feel at ease.
ARRRR,I haven't seen The Bad Lieutenant directed by Abel Ferrara ,what a pity...
he he.. i like to offer a challenge Lady Trueheart!
It was pretty impossible for me too...because each stand at the top for me, but in entirely different atmospheres..had to vote The Sorcerer's Apprentice in the end because I feel I've been waiting all my life for Nic to play that role!
Your mini review here of Bad lieutenant is very eloquent Lady Trueheart, and perhaps needs to be posted all no it's own! Truly..you write that beautifully, it would be a joy to read more!
Knowing and Bangkok Dangerous deserve a mention too...both movies are epic in their own way. Knowing would probably come joint second with Bad Lieutenant for me.

Yes, it was actually a tie between Sorcerer's Apprentice and Bad Lieutenant. Since I had to pick one, I picked Bad Lieutenant because it was more daring of a role.
I voted for Bad Lieutenant: POCNO because it was Nic's best work since Adaptation and my second favorite character he has ever done next to Vampire's Kiss.
LOL! me too Voodoo Child! But that would be tooooo easy!
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is the one I have been most excited for in a long time though so that got my vote! Thanks for your vote too clc, I am not sure everyone would agree thst POCNO is 'Nic's best work since Adaptation' but thanks for sharing your opinion! Remember folks this is quite an old poll so we would have Season Of The Witch in there too!
I voted for knowing, cause it speaks of future generations, and Nic fell to his knees, and started wailing, over the loss of his two children, I felt his pain, and the children running happily through the field, at the end, I though it was real neat, how everything turned out. The whole movie kept you entertained, the men in black watching the house, the mystries he had to solve, the dates all coming together, there really wasn't another Movie like it ever! Knowing was unique, and that's what I like about it.
