I'm just really mad about school.

I don't get it, we get 2 tasks on our own, and both have things we haven't learned, and thigns we learned last year and I dno't know exactly anymore, but with the new 'improved' system, you, if you don't make it, right away have to spend a wednesday afternoon in task detention, and I used to always make my tasks unless I didn't understand but now I have two tasks I don't understand and it makes me feel so stupid to not be able to do this but I know I'm not it just make sme feel so much like it :(.

It is always stressfull starting  new year, Eva, and if they have new policies in place that makes it harder. Hope it is starting to get better.

Someone, a teacher of mine sang a song for me, he really had a groovy voice, and I was too nervous to remember complimenting him on his voice. Later he said I was a great help for him but a little shy sometimes in his class, all my classmates looked at me, and I lower my head, sitting on my seat stiffly without saying anything in return.
I confess that I always felt embarrassed when others give me compliments in public, and when someone say 'thank you' to me, I'd probably smile at him or shake my head slightly, I seldom say 'you re welcome' in return.
I don't know if it's time to change my bad behaviour, and act less like a barbarian.
I will meet this teacher tonight due to my assignment, I wonder if anyone can give me some suggestion, thanks in advance.

Dear Tues, you are def not a barbarian! You are a very smart, friendly and kind young person, who is just to shy or, maybe isn`t used to accept deserved compliments and kindness in public! I think, (it depends on the situation or the person), I would probably act in a similar way, I guess! hug Maybe, it helps, if you just say "thank you", the next time!

Many thanks Roxy, it has been a long day, our bachelors' and bachelorettes' party (tomorrow, November 11 is celebrated as Single's Day here in my country) finally ended. My teacher didn't show up tonight, so nothing happened.

Thank you for your kind remarks Roxy. It's rather weird, I am talkative in front of my friends, and I may have a fun chat with a stranger, yeah that's how I earn my good popularity among my peers. I don't want to be seen as a quiet girl in my elders' and teachers' eyes anymore.
Regarding complimentary words, I have been told that it's virtuous to act in a modest way since I was little. I just feel bad to accept, and I've never think if I deserve any compliments.
The other day, a roommate of mine told me she had been hurt when saying thanks to someone but got nothing in return. Is it necessary to say like 'you are welcome', 'don't mention it' or 'any time' in reply?

My pleasure, dear Tues! hugWell, I think, it`s always easier to talk to someone on the internet or on the phone, but, for some, or the most people, it`s probably harder to speak to someone face to face! But, I think, if someone give you a deserved compliment or encourage you, by saying nice things to you!smile

Yes, modesty is a virtue, and, to accept compliments, especially deserved ones, gives you, from my experience, a good feeling and is a kind of boost for ones self-confidence!lotus

And, actually, it is a matter of good manners, to reply something to a "thank you"! So, I think, that this person wasn`t very polite to your roommate!

Take care!catsmug

Lady R has some wise words for you Tues. I agree with her, and hope you can learn to accept a compliment. I know when I give a comliment to someone I appreciate it if they are pleased and respond, it makes both of us feel good, I think.

Oh I know this problem.. My physics teacher always compliments me that I am doing better on the maths and stuff.. But I always stand there like.. Thank you.. I think.. Very awkwardly as I don't feel like I do better on it. This is difficult, but I think what Lady R andT say is best to do, myself I now handle it a little better by just saying thank in a normal way or say where I still have troubles.

Thank you gals, I haven't spent much time on the Internet, except QQ, anyway, I don't have that problem.... I agree with all of you and It is always make me happy to take the time to give compliments to others, to spread happy around me. I don't think I am lacking of confident, but my tongue could not twist if I don't say I am not good I am not tall not beautiful, some people never swallow their pride, like peac***s, yesterday I got a full mark for my assignment and all my classmates clapped for me when my teacher praised me in the classroom. I am not tall in comparison with a 6-ft girl but how about a 5'8'' one, and appearance, I just want to slip under the radar because my Mr right haven't appeared yet.
Time passes too fast, hope everyone is well

They aren't funny, are they Lady R? It must be upsetting to see something like that about your loved one, especially. I saw one recently for Jackie Chan too. I think it happens to many of the big stars. There seems to be a site that makes up celebrity news just for the humour, but it is pretty poor humour to me.

This afternoon I watched GISS on tv! I was expecting, that they would show the usual, theatrical version (instead of the director`s cut-version, which I like to watch on dvd), as they did it in the past! So, I was looking forward, to watch it! But, I wasn`t expecting, that they did cut in some of the scenes, which they show in the prime-time.version in the evening! I don`t get, why they have to do this with Nic`s movies! They cut in scenes, which doesn`t make sense anymore, and lots of good dialogue is missing, because of that! Only, because they can put more commercials in between, or do they think, that those scenes are too violent for that time of day? That`s stupid, in my opinion!

I agree, Lady R, that is the frustrating part of watching movies on tv. I have never watched the directors cut, is there much different?

Thank you, Lady T.! I can understand, that they usually don`t show the director`s cut or some scenes, which they think are too violent or not appropriate for showing on tv at a certain time, but, what I don`t understand about that is, when they cut too much scenes short! That alters the whole scene! And, in case of GISS: the director`s cut has some scenes extended or has different dialogue! Then, the scene, after Memphis rescues Kip, and they are back at Kip`s house, is different and, some music is included in the one version, which is not in the other one!

I don't really like complaining because I feel like I don't really have any right to complain. I've a nice life with a nice family so I've very little to complain about. I'm going to keep it Nicolas related because this is a Nicolas website after all. I know I've said the same thing before on previous topics n such but this is the place where I can just let it go. It's people saying negative stuff about Nicolas again. If a critic or an audience member doesn't like one of his movies, who am I to judge? People are allowed their own opinions about things and I'm not going to stop them, even though I would like them to like the movie. Besides that, it's when people say that Nicolas is a bad person or something ridiculous like that. I just get angry and I just want to shout at them to tell them that they're wrong and then list so many reasons why he is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. But I've a feeling that my words would be falling on deaf ears. Whenever people say bad things about him it affects me quite a bit too, I know it sounds strange but Nicolas Cage has become such a huge part of my life because he changed it, so I take it to heart because he's a role model and hero of mine so hearing negativity about him makes me feel terrible. I guess what I'm looking for is a bit of reassurance because when I hear a couple people say bad things about him I think everyone hates him and I know that's not true but hearing someone else say it will make me feel better.

Thank you stars

That's a good point you made Enzo. I too get very mad at what people out there saying bad things about Nick as a person. They just don't really see the true person he really is. As his movies proves that for sure. He's sort of the characters he plays and so much more! He cares and seems to be a nice person to really get to know. They like to put Nick down because they don't care for his films at all or not even try to see them. Which is sad in a way. Not really seeing his wonderful films then how in the world can they judge him with his talent as a actor. Then even say evil things about him personally is just pure mean. True they can have their opinions for his films and that is fine, but to just keep saying bad things about him as a person is cruel. I'm so glad to be on this forum and knowing that all of us here are true fans of Nick Cage and will never say any thing mean to him or about him at all. WE CARE and LOVE Nick Cage and long live our Knight!!!!!!!!

I'm sorry this took me awhile to respond! I've had this tab open on my iPad for ages! biggrin I agree with so much of what you said and I have gotten better now, I don't let others but me with their mean comments anymore. If they want to be mean and small minded that's their own fault. Thank you.

What really bothers me is, that they postponed the german dvd-release date (at least, on amazon) for "Left Behind" from the 5th of November to the 1st of December! That`s so unfair! I was looking forward to it! Now, I have to wait one month longer, till I can finally see it! I don`t understand, why they do that! And, in some countries, "Joe" is already out or will come out soon, but, till now, there is no release date for that movie here in Germany! cryfurious

It could be worse, right? I recall Frozen Ground was supposed to come out December 2012 and yet it was delayed until about mid July/August the next year. I think something similar happened with Joe but I forget the exact dates! Im sure Left Behind is coming out wide release October 2014, right? So maybe you can see it that way first? Not really sure what to say about the Joe DVD, though, I thought the DVD was out in a few days.
