... Oh dear!rolllaugh

Although it is one of my least favourite scenes in Bad Lieutenant because I find it disturbing, one of my favourite quotes from the movie is:

Right now I'm working on about an hour and a half's sleep over the past three days, and I'm still trying to remain courteous, but I'm beginning to think that's getting in the way of my being effective

And although I obviously had no gun in my pocket and have had a little more sleep, I found myself quoting this almost verbatim over the phone this morning to a utilities company! who I've spoken to about maybe eight times over the same issue with endless hold ups, cock ups and head f**** (sorry but, 'insert quote here'!yellowflowergrin)

LOL! chortle

LOL, did it work Lula, did you get some results? Probably just as well you didn't have a gun in your pocket.

Do you find that scene disturbing? Apparently the ladies in that scene did too, he scared them so I read, and they thought he might really hurt them! Wonder what it feels like to do a scene like that.

Maybe we can find quotes from Nic for all occasions, they would be very useful in some situations, maybe at the airport in a line-up?!!!

LOL! Kind of Lady True.... but not necessarily the result I wanted, lol! It's quite a powerful sentence when said very quietly indeed, but I don't tend to have as much vehemence brewing behind words at Terence does in that scene... thankfully! Yes, I found it disturbing, good films often are disturbing. It wasn't the words he chose more the situation...with the vulnerable older lady. I think it was in a werner Herzog interview you posted in The Great Hall Lady T where he mentioned the genuine fear they had in that scene.

Lol..so how about other quotes for confrontational situations? Can you think of any situation you might find yourself saying this in?! chortle

But who could else could ever deliver it so emphatically and hilariously at the same time!! Lol! rolllaugh

Here's that quote from Herzog:

"Oh, they were scared! They were scared! Really scared. I know that after the sequence was shot, we had lunch, and we waited five minutes. My wife sat with them, and they were completely upset. (Laughs) They were still upset, and they argued among themselves that he really could have killed them! Of course, I laughed it off. Then, after ten minutes, they accepted that it was only a movie."

That was an amazing scene in the movie.

I believe that at least once a day I quote from all of Nic's movies, because I am sure that in all of his movies he say "F***!" at least once. As do I.

Now that's a challenge... i can think of several Nic movies that definitely don't contain the F bomb ( love that phrase White Fay )! action
But i use it daily too Lady True..not flippantly..but language I loves it, at each extreme and all the shades in between. Sometimes only a certain word will do..for that certain emphasis!

By the way... it wasn't the use of the C word that I found disturbing in that scene..and I don't find 'disturbing' a bad thing either. It's powerful, but I'm glad it was just film!

I thought of another Nic line I'm sure we could all find use for and some point
..
"on any other day that might seem strange" spaceship

Well, I have said these phrases a few times in the past...

"It could happen to you"

"Some things are true whether you believe them or not"

"Describe it like Hemingway"

"Weird is Nice"

Ooh..that's a wonderful collection Lady Fay! I think I've said most of those too, 'some things are true whether you believe them or not' most often! Oh and I wrote that in my 'The Ten Nicolas Cage Myths' article!yellowflowergrin

 highfive

I truly enjoyed this clip!  You know, Nic's facial expression reminds me of the facial expression he had in "Guarding Tess" Nic's character 'Doug',  tells Earl:  "I'm going to count to five... then I'll shoot off your toe."

Well, I find myself in situations in the past, where I quote to me or to others the phrases:

"Some things are true, whether you believe in them or not!"

And, mostly to myself: "You should trust that. You don`t trusted enough!"

LOL! I seriously hope you don't find yourself using this one, Gina!!!

Lately. I found myself saying "Oh well, why not'' with the same kind of energy behind it as Stanley Goodspeed in The Rock! Just as I am about to drive my yellow ferrari through a shop front. chortle

interesting that Nic didn't want to use any swear words in R rated Drive Angry, the directors commented on it here if you are interested:

http://cagealotcastle.activeboard.com/t43715646/interesting-insights-into-nic-as-an-actor-on-the-drive-angry/

so you are safe to use any Milton quotes, eva!

I don`t remember Milton swear in Drive Angry. I read somewhere, that Nic refused to swear as Milton. But, in BL, as eva mentioned, there are a lot of swearing.

Unfortunatly, I don`t have that commentary on my dvd, but I read it somewhere else, Lula. But, I can`t remember anymore, where. So, my apologies, for my previous post.
