Is this website safe?

"It may be the end of the Internet as we know it. That was the reaction from consumer advocates and some websites after the Federal Communications Commission announced new rules governing Internet service on Thursday. The rules effectively put an end to net neutrality, or the idea that all web traffic should be treated equally."

I didn't really know where to post this but I think this was the best place.

I know this kind of stuff happens all the time, like with SOPA and PIPA and those never really worried me that much because I don't think anyone took them that seriously to be honest and they weren't anywhere from being approved but from the sounds of this video it sounds like this one already has or atleast in some form. I don't think they're going to take away the internet from us or make some people pay preferential treatment because everyone uses the internet and there would be so much uproar. But honestly this one kind of makes me concerned.

So, what do you think would happen to this website? I'm sure the admins here wouldn't make any of us pay anything else but when the government gets involved who knows? Maybe I am misinterpreting this all wrong, but what do you think?

Great to share that, thank you! smile

I think government just want to make money with anything, and maybe something about internet will happen. But, this is not the first time things like that happen, internet is a big economic market so I won't be surprise if a government decide to "tax" some things. On the other hand, I would be surprised if people don't react to that in a way that they would stop the government action. The internet was always representative of a kind of liberty so people wouldn't let this "freedom" go. So it's a bit hard to think about that for the moment because two things are opposed and we don't know how it will work exactly so wait and see for the moment smile

I don't really understand anything about internet usage/financial stuff et al, but this seems to be about charging the providers money, or am I wrong? I suppose this may mean the cost of paid sites gets increased at some point, I don't know how these things work. But this forum is created through a Canadian service and the rules are probably different than American stuff. There, that is my totally uninformed opinion. confuse
