The American Cinematheque is presenting Out on a Limb: A Tribute to Nicolas Cage, April 4-6 at the Aero. Featured are Alan Parker's Birdy, the Coen brothers' Raising Arizona, Spike Jonze's Adaptation, Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant and an advance screening of David Gordon Green's Joe. Nic will be there! So nice to see him being honoured for his great body of work, I wish I could go.

JOE
2013, Roadside Attractions, 117 min, USA, Dir: David Gordon Green

Adapted from the acclaimed Larry Brown novel, this taut drama stars Nicolas Cage as Joe Ransom, an ex-con working for a lumber company, who is rarely far from trouble. But when he meets a teen (Tye Sheridan of MUD) who shoulders even heavier burdens, Joe sees an opportunity to be something greater in life and becomes the young man’s protector. Shot on location in Texas with nonprofessional actors rounding out the cast, JOE is among the grittiest and most powerful evocations of the blue-collar South ever filmed.

Special Ticket Pricing: $15 General, $12 Students/Seniors, $10 Members. No passes accepted for this or any other specially-priced program. | Screening format: DCP
