I honestly am beginning to think that anyone with a project in mind attaches Nic's name to it in a statement just to get some publicity! There is no way he can be going to do all the movies mentioned lately. I am getting confused too, we need a flow chart to keep all these rumours and announcements in order, lol!

Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in the reboot of Left Behind, the faith-based, action-packed book and movie series about the End Times.

Paul Lalonde, the writer and producer of the original set of movies, and John Patus, who worked on the final entry 2005's Left Behind: World at War, have written a screenplay and are hoping to take the movie series in a more mainstream direction and are eyeing a budget in the $15 million range.


The Left Behind movies, which starred Kirk Cameron and launched in 2001, were adapted from the mega-successful books written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins that reportedly sold more than 65 million copies.

The movies were political thrillers that focused on the End of Days and the Rapture. Those Christian beliefs are again the focal point of the new movie, but the story will be in the mold of a classic disaster film. The plot takes place during the first few hours after the Rapture and focuses on survivors.

Flow chart sounds good Lady T! you offering? I did start that topic trying to do an overview of all rumoured projects but must admit that my haas become swamped...a but like the way it does after the third chess move...arghhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

My theory is, everyone attaches Nic's name to their film because he has such star power there is an immediate  pull of attention to their project!

An end of the world disaster movie is atleast a move away from revenge thrillers, which i believe some of our members were getting tired of seeing him in. I am happy with anything he chooses. but I am just 'easy over cage'. If it is anything like Knowing, I need to prepare to have my heart ripped out.

Even, if he is in talks for that one, that doesn`t automatically mean, he will star in it! And, I fully agree with you, Flo! But, I think, as he already made something similar with "knowing", I don`t think, he would play in this one! We, indeed, just have to wait and see! Thanks, Lady T., for posting it!

As I was hunting around yesterday, I found 3 short videos of the movies that were with Kirk Cameron in the early 2000's.  It seems like a really neat movie and it is nothing like Knowing.  Knowing is about the EARTH being destroyed, Left Behind is about Christians taken to heaven, and non-believers staying on earth, Jesus Christ returning and the AntiChrist taking over.  In the old movie, one of the main characters, but not the lead is an airplane pilot.  I did see an article where Nic would be playing the pilot Rayford Steele and he would be the lead in this new movie  I read the character in Wiki and it is very interesting.  I hope he does this, It would be great. It is a Christian movie like Knowing but also very differant.

So, yes, Nic has LOTS of projects lined up for next year and he sure can't do all of them.  We can only wait and see what he does do.  He took alot of time off this year, so he should be all rested up to work next year.

That kind of evangelistic christianity literature turns me off but I will still go see it if Nic makes a movie of it.

Thanks for the very interesting info on Left Behind RoyalTraveler, Nic playing a pilot sounds plausible from what you have said here.

Knowing is not a christian movie in my opinion, it asked more questions and left even more unanswered, with imagery that could be taken from many belief systems and seemed to have more of a spiritual as opposed to religious theme, to me. flowerface

I cannot imagine Nic in a film that has any speciifc agenda, so many inerviews over the years he has been quoted as saying it is up to the audience to receive and interpret as they see fit.

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - On the eve of the AFM, Arclight Films has taken on international sales duties for the film adaptation of the Christian-themed best-seller, "Left Behind," a representative for the film told TheWrap on Tuesday.

The film, which will star Nicolas Cage and will be directed by Vic Armstrong, is looking for an early 2013 start date.

I watched the commentary for Knowing last night with the director and it was like he was being interviewed.  The interviewer kept coming up with how he thought the movie was so religious and the director said it is not religious at all, and was never meant to be.  Aside from Nic's character's father being a minister, it does not touch on religion.  The director said it has a spiritual feeling, not a religious feeling.  Two very differant things.

'Left Behind' starring Nicolas Cage set to film in Baton Rouge in March

Filmmaker and owner of Cloud Ten Pictures Paul Lalonde tweeted on Friday, Nov. 30, that "Left Behind" is set to begin filming in Baton Rouge on March 18, 2013. The movie will star Nicolas Cage and is a remake of the 2001 movie of the same name — an action flick of the Rapture, in which all Christ-believers are saved and a journalist is left to await the Anti-Christ.

Hollywood Reporter says the movie could land in the range of a $15 million budget.

Wow.. Left Behind to begin filming in March and Outcast in April? Sir Nicolas really does continue to work hard and spoil us fans.

  Glad that Nic is staying busy but I am sure that Left Behind may get pushed back since OUTCAST is going to require alot of stunt work and reshoots due to the scale of the picture.  I highly doubt that they could Wrap OUTCAST in 4 weeks and then start shooting Left Behind.  Even Nic's small films like LLV and BL:POCNO took at least 6 to 8 weeks to shoot.  Just saying.  Cheers....CLC
