Here is a very nice interview with Nic in his role as producer of "The Life of David Gale" that Tues came across and asked me to post. It is new to me and I enjoyed it very much, especially as I have yet to see this movie so it was interesting to read something about it.

How long have you been involved with this project?
I guess we've had it for about four years. It's been a long process. We didn't know what to expect at first. We knew when Charles Randolph came in that we had a very special pitch that he gave us, that it was unusual, and that it was bold material. That is something that our company, Saturn, is attracted to - is to take chances and to helpful create something new.

We didn't have any expectations, the script went out, Alan Parker was going through a phase where he read a lot of different screenplays, and then he found this one. He really connected with it and he gave us a call. We said, “Yeah, that would be amazing.”

As the producers, were you involved in the casting process?
A little bit. I had talked with Alan about different ideas. We all pretty much agreed. I had complete faith in him. Then when Kevin's name came up, I thought, “This will be the perfect choice for this role.” I can't see anyone else playing this part.

Were you ever considering starring in the film?
It was something that was developed with the idea that I might play it. But I don't know, I went on to do other things and by the time that this script was finished, I really felt that it probably would suit another actor. So that's what happened with that.

What makes a great mystery?
I think a good mystery is when you really don't know what's going to happen or who did it. That makes a good film, in general. Bad movies are the ones where you know who did it before the movie's over. I don't think we have that problem here. I think this is a great movie. This is one where you need to stay until the last minute of the movie.

Thank you very much Meghug the Life Of David Gale my another fave from Alan Parker, is really a powerful movie, some plots is not for the squeamish though. Indeed, Kevin Spacy was born to play this part, and I was thinking of Prot from K-PAX when I read this interview. The reference of great mystery is interesting to read, they really did justice to the last-minute change, at least some frame.

I think this film is very powerful, I dont want to see it for a second time. What I learned from this film was that the existence of death sentence system was the strongest affront to justice, as Ayn Rand said, one cannot give up the world to one despises, David Gale was such a 'paranoia', but actually what I thought was whether the death sentence was the only way to put someone who was considered as a potential threat to death. Sorry if I have said anything wrong.

Thank you Lady Trueheart, this is a new interview to me!

I agree with your take on the movie Tues..well put ...wow..what a film, powerful and an incredibly cleverly written one. Like Shadow Of A Vampire it has always seemed that Nic was very involved with this film, and it's creative process.

I find it interesting that Nic has just appeared in a film with a pretty provocative implicit death penalty message..on watching Justice, The Life Of David Gale did come to mind, even though an entirely different kind of approach and film.

Thank you Lula!! I would take it with a pinch of salt if someone else said Seeking Justice hinted at the illegalities of death penalty, interesting to read this, and, and had it been conveyed in a disturbing way may I ask?
