Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you what may be the greatest, most ridiculous poster ever made for a movie which does not yet exist. Freshly arrived in Cannes I made my first foray into the Marche du Film - the market area separate from the main festival where films are bought and sold for international distribution - and the first thing I discovered was this: The sales art for a proposed new film by Versus and Midnight Meat Train director Ryuhei Kitamura titled Marble City, featuring a wildly photoshopped Nicolas Cage in the lead.

Rune enters Marble City after serving ten years for armed robbery; with an eye patch covering his scarred and mangled eye, he's full of hate and vengeance.

Even though on parole, Rune immediately steals a car, picks up two nickel-plated .45's and goes on a violent search for the man that wronged him. His investigation brings him into encounters with strippers, mob enforcers and the very worst that the underworld has to offer.

But Rune is also seeking personal redemption, praying for forgiveness from his sinful ways. His journey into darkness culminates in an epic gun battle with those who wronged him.
Also listed in the cast - and remember that these things can and frequently do change at this stage - are Mickey Rourke, Melissa George, Tom Waits and Bill Pullman.

As it says, that this is "photoshopped", I guess, this is a joke! But, indeed! It would be an exiting project, if it were true! Thanks for posting it, Lula! :)

Some guy on the Internet said the official poster of Stolen looked like a schlock PSed photo, what a hoot.

Nicolas Cage and Mickey Rourke in Talks for Marble City

Source: Stealth Media Group
May 17, 2012

Stealth Media Group announced today that Nicolas Cage and Mickey Rourke are in talks to star in director Ryuhei Kitamura's Marble City. The announcement was made by Jason Piette, Managing Director of Stealth Media Group LA office. Polaris Pictures' Producer Jeremy Wall will co-finance the film along with Premiere Pictures. Mike Nilon, Nicolas Cage’s manager, is also Producing.

"Ryuhei is the electric kind of filmmaker that Stealth Media is proud to be in business with," said Piette. "His vision of action filmmaking is truly unique as seen in 'Azumi' and we look forward to bringing a high octane smart action picture to the market that targets the critical young male demographic.”

Marble City takes us on a journey of a newly released prisoner who seeks revenge on those that put him inside. It is the story of a man who finds his inner peace through vengeance.

Jeremy Wall said, “the film is a high action and close combat fighting picture. We will bring a dynamic flair to the screen with this director and story. We are delighted to be attracting the highest caliber of actor in the business to work with us in this venture, namely Oscar winning actor Nicolas Cage and Oscar winning actor Mickey Rourke – let the battle begin."

Kitamura (The Midnight Meat Train) said, "This is 'Kill Bill' meets 'Drive.' The movie is a story of one man's journey of vengeance on a road filled with rage, bullets and ultra-violence. He needs to go through the darkest places to reach the light in a classic story of revenge, redemption and salvation. I'm fully loaded with an incredible dream cast, great script and complete backing from my producers. Together we'll take action noir to the next level!"

Marble City was written by Tom Sjolund. The film is scheduled to go into production in early August.

Odd poster, wonder why someone made it before the movie even got announced. If it does start in August where does that leave Cross The Dog that was to be filming in NO, I wonder. I am getting scared about Frank or Francis actually happening now.

I think it happens at Cannes, Lady T..

Of all the movies we have heard about, I would be the most surprised if Frank Or Francis did not happen Lady T, and disppointed beyond the extreme!

Yes, that is 2 recent movie rumours with Nic and Mickey Rourke together (the other turned out to be just Nic) I would love to se them in a film together again too Tues!

According to firstshowing.net "Marble City is described as "Kill Bill meets Drive," "  if that is the case, then I am getting very excited indeed. actionactionaction

Thanks for the continue updates Lula. I know the reason why Nic resigned from the Wrestler, and I am just happy that have the chance to see them together in a movie.

It does sound a bit like drive Angry, different kind of jail, though.

The poster makes me think that Nic plays Rune, but of course the person who made the poster may not know any more than we do. But a fight to the finish between Mickey Rourke and Nic would be an amazing thing to see!

I dont know Lula, just think Val Kilmer is the coolest of the cool, along with Mickey Rourke. Seems Marble City is a homage to Grindhouse movies in a pure way
