SONNY (2002), Nic's first and so far only directorial outing,  is a moving, intense, quirky, engaging, cleverly and beautifully shot and perfomed story and movie that deserves way more attention than it has received, so it is a pleasure to read this Wonderful  review from the Examiner:

That's good for you Roxy!! There were some films I wish Nic had been the director since the beginning. Nic is against-the-tide trend actor, It's cool to see he showcased his film-making talents like that. I agree with the author, Sonny is a directorial masterpiece to the core.hide

Congrats Roxy! So happy you have seen Sonny now! It is beautifully told story isn't it? and I was most struck by the cinematography, the camera work is sumptuous in places.

I too am glad Nic chose something this possibly controversial and edgy, yet really personal and intimate drama / close up story for his directrial debut. starry I really do hope to see him direct again one day director

Thanks, Lula! After all, it was your decree, my queen! ;) Indeed, it is! Beautiful, intense and so well composed in every scene! Nobody would have done a better job on that movie, than Nic, and, that he has chosen that difficult story as his first one, is another proof of his NICxtraordinary, magNICal, masterful talents! And, I too, hope, that he will direct again one day! And, may I predict, that, if he does, it surely will be another masterpiece! :)
