This was interesting, and I am glad to read it. It is true what he says too, about so many Oscar movies which nobody talks about five years later. I think a lot of Nic's earlier movies never got recognition at the time, and some got ridiculed, yet now are being seen for the works of art they are. And I think the same will hold true for his movies now, wait some years and see what people say! He is nicer than me though, I don't find all the criticism amusing.

(Cover) - EN Movies - Nicolas Cage is “amused” by his worst actor nominations at The Razzie Awards.

The Ghost Rider star has been in the running for the award three times at the annual ceremony which recognises the worst in film. In 2006 he was nominated for his role in The Wicker Man, and again in 2007 for Ghost Rider, Next and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Most recently he was up for a 2011 award for his portrayal in Drive Angry, Season of the Witch and Trespass.

However, Nicolas shrugs off the criticism.

“I’m just amused by that,” he told German TV station Tele 5.

“I don’t take praise or criticism especially seriously. I at least try not to get influenced by that because if I did I wouldn’t be honest with myself anymore. I need to stick to what interests me.”

He is yet to receive a Razzie award. He has, however, won awards praising his work including a best actor Oscar in 1996 for his role in Leaving Las Vegas.

“To be honest I don’t keep any awards in my house,” he said.

“I don’t even know if I actually really won a Razzie at one point but if I would I surely would choose an interesting place for it.”

Nicolas doesn’t care for awards – Razzie or otherwise. He is only interested in taking roles that challenge his abilities.

“I’ve never appeared in a movie to get an award for it. That would be the wrong approach,” he said.

“I am interested in movies that can surprise me even after ten or 20 years. There are so many Oscar movies which nobody talks about five years later. Movies have to stimulate me therefore I can’t take into account what critics say. And when I am criticised by them I think that I did something right anyway.”

That is really an interesting interview! I think, it isn`t really important anyway, what the critics says, because, what the audience thinks of a movie is that, what really matters! And, besides, Nic`s success all this years shows that, too! There will always be people, who think, they always have to give bad critics and reviews of a really good movie! Thanks for posting it, Lady T.!

Like I said: Goes his own way whether critics like it or not. And I do wonder if all the people who trashed GR 2 realized that by bombarding Nic with all that hate, they probably, unwittingly provided him with enough motivation to make a third Ghost Rider? LOL!!!

the critics are almost a separate entity, an irrelevant construct,  artists cannot produce art unless it comes from an authentic place within them, so to that extent Nic has no choice about what he chooses and no choice about pleasing the critics or not. It has to be hard not to feel a whole gambit of emotion about their reacitons at times, but i am glad that Nic has such a cool approach to it. It is sad n that he cannot allow himself to take on board praise either though.

Interesting he doesnt keep his awards in his house i would if i were him, but thats his opinnion. Normally if a movie or actor gets a razzie thats ok but i dont understand why they nominated Nic i guess because the movies didnt have much succes, but that doesnt mean the movie was bad at all!

I felt confused why noone asked Nic apart from Academy award what was most important award to him. This gives me a buzz, Lady T. Now truth is told and that's part of the awesomeness of Nicolas Cage. It's sad, Lula, I do think praise wouldnt always do him justice. i love this guy lol.
