In interviews, Nic and  Neveldine and Taylor have mentioned that minimum effects were used in Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Venegeance, and having seen the movie, they have managed, in my opinion, to retain the rawness and grittier feel of their filmmaking. This is an interesting article about the post conversion 3D and VFX on the movie, along with these amazing gifs showing the process!

Nic has talked about the mask he wore on set to get him into the spirit of vengeance, these images demonstrate that in a remarkable way!

That was interesting. And those gifs are tremendous. I am really looking forward to seeing more of Nic with no cgi doing the scenes in the dvd release, as N and T have said it will be included in the extra features.

Good point Lady Trueheart, the extras in this dvd / blu ray (let's hope both) are going to be mindblowing!  if anyone is interested you can check out what co-director Brian Taylor said about the Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Venegance dvd / Blu-ray here

On the one hand I hesitate to read too much about the filmmaking process in case it destroys the magic, but on the other i am really glad to read about all the people involved and the hard work that goes into it, which leaves me with such a huge feeling of appreciation and admiration

Well that was very cool! I loved it, so interesting. I haven't really seen anything like this so had no idea how they do these cgi effects. Way cool!! It doesn't really bother me to see how it is done although I have felt that occasionally when I watch behinds the scenes stuff.

I am the same Lady T..and  always conflicted about seeing under the bonnet or not! But this gave me a sense of respect for everyone involved in the creation of the final product, and also, it show that ther were not all that many special effects and what there was was really harmonious... i know that seems weird to say, but much of what we see was already there! flaming

( the whole video being a cover up hoax of course, because we all knwo Nicolas Cage, acting maestro nouveau shaman can transform himself like this in the blink of an eye!...... )

Thanks, Z! Those were cool to watch! I am confused, are they tributes, or showcasing somebodies work on those movies? Either way, good music and scenes. And I feel a deep need now to see Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, lol!

Gonna be so cool to see the extra stuff in the dvd soon!

I edited your links, by the way.

Thanks Lady Trueheart. From what I heard the regular DVD will just have some deleted scenes. But if they feature more of Nic as GR, I say I'm all in.

Oh, I forgot they weren't putting it on both types of dvds, not fair at all! Deleted scenes are great too, though, more Ghost Rider all the time must be our mantra!

More on the VFX in GR:SOV!

In this video interview Iloura's Lead Lighter Drew Wood Davies discusses V-Ray as part of the studio's core pipeline. Check out the VFX breakdowns of "Don't be Afraid of the Dark" and "Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance".
