I wanted to start this sub-forum as I'm interested to know what you're currently watching these days.

I am into a brilliantly cast and clever show on my public broadcast station called "Downton Abbey."  This show is amazing!  The cast, the plot, and for those of us who are interested in britain's history or elete, you get your fix with this wonderful show.

The series is set in the fictional Downton Abbey, the Yorkshire country house of the Earl and Countess of Grantham, and follows the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants during the reign of King George V. The first series spans the two years before the Great War beginning with news of the sinking of the Titanic, which sets the story in motion. The second series covers the years 1916 to 1919, and the 2011 Christmas Special December covers the 1919 Christmas period, ending in early 1920's.

I am currently watching the 2nd season, and am already wanting more!!!  What are you watching?

Great idea for a topic, Gina! If it is ok with you I will move it to the Chamber of Arts forum? flowerface

I tend to watch film rather than tv, and hae only just recently got a tv set after years without one, so am very selective about what I watch! ( "televiision, the drug of the nation, breeding ignorance and feeding radiation" )

Cool that Downtown Abbey is played in america too! it is an itv.com production:

Here is a selection of some of my current favourites

Being Human - a supernatural comedy horror series, awesomely written with engaging characters and story lines ( i think you get the american version )

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00hqlc4

http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/beinghuman/

Frozen Planet -  I am fascinated by programmes about the natural world the photography in this BBC series is mind blowing

Noel Fielding's Luxury Comedy - this is probably an acquired taste for some...but I totally love Noel Fielding's psychedelic humour and creativity, he was part of the comedy outfit 'The Mighty Boosh', pre cursor to this programme!

Sorry, Gina, I don't watch tv, but an excellent idea for a thread. That show sounds good, something I might enjoy, I like reading about that period of history.

They all sound good, actually, I have heard good things abot all oyours, Lula.  My current tv shows are really just news and when I am with mom, Coronation Street, oh save me.

I don't have a tv, but I am rewatching all of 'Peep Show' on 4oD - the humor is far more awkward and embarassing than I remembered!

To be honest, it became very rare to me to sit in front of our tv. If i do its mostly sport eventures like football, basketball or boxing games. I also enjoy a few german productions and especially documentarys about sport, science, nature and history and society

Okay.... I am LOL right now!!  I guess TV is soooooooooo American!!! rolllaughrolllaughrolllaughrolllaughrolllaughrolllaughrolllaughrolllaugh Most of us, can't go without a TV!  I'm single, and I have three of them in my home!!!!  YIKES!!!  Call me sad, but it's true.  I work so much and rarely get out to the movies so TV is a must for me, especially on the weekends when I'm not out and about.

Lula, I LOVE "Being Human."  We have an American version which airs on the SYFY channel, but the cast aren't as clever and good looking as the British version.  I can't wait for the new season to begin on the BBC!!!

There are also a few shows that I cherish on the USA Network.  There's a new show called "Suits." The show is in its 2nd season, and is about a brilliant lawyer and his, for lack of a better term, sidekick who is also brilliant but lied about taking the Bar exam.

@ Lady T:  Yes!  He was hosting tonite.  "Being Human" had a marathon leading into a new episode.  I just so happen to stumble upon it myself as I am a big fan of the show.  What's strange is, I hadn't read any news of Nicolas hosting it!  But, there he was, talking up Being Human and Ghost Rider!!

Oh well, I must say, it is getting hard to keep up with it all. I did find the show on the Space channel but it was not a marathon. We don't have the syfy channel here, I guess. I watched a bit of the show but I don't think  it is for me.

Great idea for a topic!

On monday I like to watch fabulous cakes, about people who make realy big cakes, on tuesday I like to watch the mentalist and criminal minds, sometimes it changes on tuesday sometimes it is castle and not criminal minds, on wednesday I zap around and usually end in a show in wich they dress over people, that shows are all wednesday eve so I watch that, on thursday I think I also just zap around, on friday there isn't anything interesting either, on saturday usually a movie, on sunday I watch embaressing bodies and just all crap that comes afterwards. What I watch during day or just what I sometimes watch is cooking shows, cupcake wars, I also watgch NCIS when I find it on tv, no idea when they play it but usually it is late and when I am still awake I watch it, or just some other Pollice criminal show they show later.

@ Lady T: Ahhhhhh, that's too bad you weren't feeling Being Human.  I understand, you have to have an acquired taste for vampires, wherewolves and ghosts - LOL!!!

@ Eva: Wow!  I didn't know they have Criminal Minds and Castle in your neck of the woods - Excellent!!!!  So, do you like to bake Eva?

There are a few british shows that I wanted to get Lula's take on because she's the only one of you that I know resides in Britain.

I mentioned a few british shows that I'm obsessed with like: Downton Abbey and Being Human.  Two more shows that I'm equally as obessed with and they are: MI-5 and Doc Martin.

Lula, are these shows popular in Britain?  I'm watching episodes filmed in 2008 - 09 for both shows.  Are there more current versions?

I think I am just tired of watching people chomp on necks, Gina! The gore does not really bother me. I used to be into tv a lot, loved Buffy and Angel, and Lost, also 24. But now I seem to be sitting in front of the computer instead! I used to watch Doc Martin sometimes, it was a good show. The setting in Cornwall was so beautiful too.

Thank you for starting this incredible topic Gina, and thanks everyone for the recommendations, I will search those progs online to confirm they are available on video sharing sites or not.
Last time I watched a KBS TV documentary called Noodle Road on my telly. I don't care to what programmes will be aired on TV in particular except Lecture Room & Dating With Wonderful Movies, watching legendary costume dramas is meat and drink to me if the small screen directors gonna be serious.

@ Eva:  I love The Mentalist.  The first time I saw Simon Baker was when he starred in the movie The Devil Wears Prada.  He's soooo cute!

@ Lady T:  I used to LOVE "24"  Did you know they are making a big screen version called... what else - "24!"  Jack Bauer will be hitting the big screen in 2013!!

And btw, I agree with you TOTALLY about the gore.  All CSI shows turned me off to mainstream TV.  Now I pretty much only watch cable-related shows like:  Downton Abbey, White Collar, Suits, Psych, Leverage, Burn Notice... All these shows are minus the blood and gore!!

@ Tues:  Noodle Road?  Wow, what is this documentary about?  Sounds entertaining!
