Always an enjoyable scene to watch, no matter how many times! I actually think the man was perfectly happy then, lol! It is a joyful scene, and I think that Nic wanted to show a man very content in his choice then.

And, on the audio commentary, the director says, that this scene with that music was Nics idea.

Oh, I didn't know that, Lady A, cool. It certainly was an inspired idea! It really sets the tone of fast lane Jack's point of view on life.

i think he was too Lady T, on his surface level, but as events transpire, he clearly wasn't underneath! he himself goes on to say he wants for nothing, and it was that very statement that set the whole 'a christmas carol' stylee 'glimpse' experience in motion..where he discovered the deeper truth..he was still in love with Kate and he wa lonely!

But, that he is still in love with Kate, he discovers quite late in the movie, when he gets finally to accept, that there are more important things than making lots of money.

I never really felt that first Jack conveyed anything but a perfectly contented in his lifestyle man, and also a fine man for his situation in life. Although he is not a spirit of christmas kind of guy he is working in an environment that encourages that kind of lifestyle. Everyone in the office liked him, his secretary and he had a great rapport, so I never see him as a bad man or in need of a lesson actually. One of my two quibbles with the movie. I find it a bit heavy handed moralistically.

I really don`t think, that "New York" Jack is a bad man. It`s just different, because of the circumstances and the choice he made. He loves his work and he loves women. And, I think, he is good in reading people, but in a good way.

Yes indeed, he is ctually really impressive in the convenience store scene, brave and concerned. Maybe a little naive, but at least he did something. Twas only when he said he didn't need anything that the 'angel' decided he need to learn a lesson.

I just love that scene in the shop.. when the whole movie begins to shift and the magic begins... very Dickens / Capresque! stars

And it is amazing isn't it how the movie is in fact a fantasy, but feels very true to life ?

Well, I have the "region 2"-version. And, it`s the ordinary version. Watched it last night for the first time with commentary. Before, I watched it in the normal english version.

Here is a site with some information on the New York locations used during filming. I love the look of that whole part in New York before the glimpse, especially the night time on Park Ave. Makes me want to visit NY badly.

LOL. Yes, but imagine, those things could happen in real life? Or, at least, something similiar to that.

Yes, the feeling was Capraesque, Lula, exactly!

This kind of movie can be tricky, I have seen some wherein it just suspends any kind of belief in the idea that it could happen. This one just carries you along, due to great performances, i think.
