This is a great find Lady Trueheart, very interesting about the different kinds of magic used. the comment on warlock and witches, and Behmen being a 'witch hunter' didn't fully resonate for me,  I know we talked before about the representaion of witches in movies, in Season Of The Witch i was really happy to see the ambiguity of the status of "The Girl"  and Behmen especially could not be described as a witch hunter i don't think.. he was reluctant from the start   The insanity of the witch trials was explored  to some extent but they never really addressd the idea that there are good witches....once Behmen discovered The Girl had supernatuarl powers he was prepsred to kill her...but the beauty of the ending of the film is that his instinct about the girl being a victim of sorts was right all along...although they got out of the whole issue of witches  by turning the witch into a demon! witch knight

Excellent thread Lady T, and intriguing commentary Lula!

When I was very young, I was intrigued by witchcraft.  It wasn't until thoroughly reading into the depths of witchcraft, its spells and rituals,  I realized the good and bad and how most people focus on the bad.

Though, I agree with Lula, the fact that the witch in Season of the Witch was proven more so to be a demon which elaborates my depiction of focusing on the evil of what consitutes a witch...

Ah well, I guess the only good witches can only be seen in The Wizard of Oz - lol!!!!  Though, in witchary in general, The Sorcerer's Apprentice was pretty lighthearted in the arena of good vs. evil.

This is really an interesting article. Thanks for posting it Lady T.  Although, actually, the word "warlock" isn`t a name for an evil sorcerer or a male witch. It means "Oath-breaker".

Well, Gina, usually in the most movies about magic and witchcraft they show witches as evil. And, the only two exeptions I can think of, too, are "The Wizard of Oz" and SA.

I don`t see Behmen as "witch-hunter" either, because, he doesn`t hunt the witch. He has the mission to just simply escort the witch to her "trial".

You know Lady A, as I thought about it more, I forgot about the entire Harry Potter series as they refer to the female wizards as witches.  They weren't really portrayed as evil.

Yes, you`re right. Now, that you mention it, Gina. I totally forgot about that, too. The male witches there are called wizards. In opposite to certain witchcraft-movies and series like "charmed". (btw: in the old path, lots of people live in this century, the female and the male witchcraft-practitioner is called: witch).
