I aslo had this played to me this morning! blessed to have such talented and loving friends! although my fingers have the stretch and can move this fast on a piano keyboard, not so on the guitar!

it just makes you want to circle around your lover with your eyes on fire and stamp your foot to the floor like a frisky pony!

2 versions of 'Asturias'‪ by Isaac Albeniz (1860-1909)

Enjoy!

Oh, so very beautiful, how lucky you were to be treated to such a performance! My son-in-law plays and he has often played this for me,  I love it, in fact I have the John Williams one in my music folder and listen to it often!

WOW! who'd a thunk we would both be so lucky Lady Trueheart! starry

It is amazing how much difference the player can make, the friend who played to me yesterday used to play duets with another friend of mine who had a much more 'classic' classical style, technically very precise, the other friend ( from yesterday ) came up through a more improvisational background, jazz guitar too, and his style is freer, more fluid... and he has this amaing musicality that it is just so ...soulful and moving!   lotusflowerface

Do you have favourite guitar pieces Lady T?

Yes, interesting how two people can play the same instrument and music so differently. My other thought was how the male energy in Williams' version seems so full of obvious power, but the feminine energy in Vidovic's was powerful in its own, more subtle, equally valid and valuable way. In today's society the male power is so emphasized that sometimes we forget the value of the feminine heart's gentle power. And the world needs that as much as the male forms of power. Much healthier if they each support the other in a dance of mutual support and harmonious balance. The Chinese philosophy sees the ying energy as dark, and the yang as light, but each has its own lightness and dark within it.

The world today sees feminine energy as weak a lot of the time - unless it is a brazen amazon woman or a sexual object - but heart energy has been seen as weak, when actually it is very powerful and very needed. Men have heart energy too, of course, and we are starting to realize that we need that energy - from both men and women. I think that's one of the things that attracts us so much to Nic. He has that male heart energy and is not afraid to claim it, express it, balanced with the other parts of himself, in a very masculine and open, truthful way. Such a teacher/shaman! We really need the leadership of people like him.

I don't really know enough about guitar music to have favourite pieces, I guess, I just listen to things I like. I am tending towards bluesy jazz guitar right now, but I love flamenco and classical too.  And rock, always.

This is another flamenco one that I have saved, it is wonderful, no, it is stupendous.

Me too! completely! he has become one with his instrument, it is a whole other level of expression! starry

wow, thank you Lady Trueheart, there is lots of amazing rare guitar footage in that youtube channel. there are a copploa rare Bach recitals there, at the other exteme, classical, which i adore too!

i know little about guitar music too, in fact all i know about any music really is what I feel on a deep level, and that to me is all i need to really know. it is a transcendent experience, beyond the mind, the mind just gets in the  way of that!

Thank  heavens for the univesal language of music that speaks deeply to the spirit! starry
