It's a great scene, Nic is so strong in it.  I will have to see the movie again before I choose a favourite scene, I think, I need refreshing!

Yes, all scenes, lol! But I do want to pay closer attention to the last scenes too, it is hard to take it all in  when you first see a movie.

I agree Meg, this is what i love about having the dvd...the ability to indulge to your hearts content! reel

Bringing matters back to this particular clip, it was said in mny of the reveiws that Nic gave , I think one critic called it a "dead pan" performance. I do not agree at all, there is passion in this movie, expressed (as here) or contained and seething! knight

So, I decided to go trough some old topics hide

I indeed like this scene too! Maybe not my favourite but it is very intense and good! He plays it very well, I do love it where he says that no man has spilled more blood in gods name than he did, very expressive!

the actors got slated for their accents in SOTW but it was actually pretty accurate for that time period in europe! Nic is never a sloppy actor, I am not just saying that because I am  superfan.. he is well know to be highly dedicated and everything is very precise, but people /the audience don't know their reference points so ...in that sense maybe it was a debatable decision on the part of the director..but then again had they used american accents that would have gone down a treat too! rolllaugh

I watched some Greek mythology movie not too long ago, almost everyone had a British accent, even the Americans! I thought that was so funny, faking a British acccent to play a Greek mythological figure. That seems to be because it sounds more classical, I guess, but hardly accurate. I personally think everyone should just talk in their own accent when doing period pieces, the reality of what people sounded like then is probably completely different from what we would imagine.

I think I remember Nic saying in an interview that he spoke in a way that was considered appropriate for that time, based on research, and he was voice coached.

Indeed, Lady T.! But, Nic usually does, when his character has a certain accent, working on in, so that it sounds pretty accurate. I recall, when he was on the "Jimmy Fellon Show" for promoting SA, he said, that his character (Balthazar) lived since 200 years in America (he came over with the colonist), so that is, why he has an american accent in the movie. And, after all, we here in modern times, could only imagine, how the people in ancient times spoke. So, I think, in such movies, it really doesn`t matter, if an actor speaks his native accent, when portraying an ancient character or hailed from medieval times!
