I just found an interesting read on Nicolas' career and where it stands in Hollywood at this point and going forward.  It is a great read with interesting views and stats.

I really think this article was harsh.  And I truly believe that any director would love to work with Nic.  He's the ultimate professional and immensely talented.  Truth is, no one can stay at the top forever, there are too many up and coming talented actors.  But Nic will always be able to deliver.   I just want to see him do fewer movies and try some characters that are very different than what we've been seeing him do.  I mean, when's the last time we saw him in a light and funny role, a happy go-lucky bloke?  People have gotten so used to seeing him in a certain type role that I think they'd be blown out of the water if they could see him really change it up.

Hey White Fay. I am with you on Nicolas needing to do funny roles again.  I just watched Valley Girl and remembered how funny and playful Nic can be.  It is a harsh article, but it does have some valid points to it as well.  Nic has hurt his career in a way by doing mostly action and thriller type films.  I hope he actually wants to be the villian in Medallion and can convince West to cast him as such since he has been doing a lot of thrillers.  I want Nic to do small movies with no SFX or noise really.  I would like him to do a quiet film or take a step back.  I am not sure if he will change it up however.  I love Nic and wish him luck, but I just hope his career is not sinking fast.  He does too many films with no breaks and movie fans are tired of him I think.  I will watch Nic do anything, but I think he isn't a full fledged A List actor at this point.  I hate admitting that, but it is true.  I mean that as far as popularity as a whole and not that he isn't an A lister by acting standards, but America has tired of him.  I am glad he is still bigger overseas though.  SOTW made more $ overseas than in the US.  Anyway, I just hope Nic can get out of the rut he is in.  Hungry Rabbit and Trespass should help I think.

I adore Nic in comedic roles.  He has that classic Dick Van Dyke comedic style when he wants to.  And he can emote with his facial expressions like no other.  Put the two together and he would be hilarious in the right role.

I agree that he needs to do more comedic roles like Raising Arizona and Honeymoon in Vegas because I think it would remind the general audience that Nic still does have a funny and lighthearted side.  He has been in a dark place with his roles lately and I would love to see Nic's huge and inviting smile on screen.  I miss seeing Nic and his co stars smile together instead of cry or be angry, but that is just me.  He is a special comedian and since he does have great facial expressions only rivaled by Jim Carrey, I think they could do a film together since they are close friends.  They were best pals at one time I believe. smile

I appreciate all the feedback I have gotten from the link I posted.  I would like Nicolas to take time off to direct, write scrips or even take a lesser role and be a supporting actor.  I think being the lead guy and working so much might have an effect on his health and proffesional life as well.  I am still waiting for Nicolas to have a comeback that rivals the likes of Mickey Rourke's or Robert Downey Jr.  I know they came back from failing in their lives due to drug use and other issues, but I think they found out how precious life is and being an actor/artist is a privledge and an honor.  I think Nic should step away and find himself again and redefine his outlook on acting and the movie business as a whole.  I know most you couldn't or wouldn't want to see OUR beloved Nicolas do such a thing, but I feel it will benefit Nicolas and his fans if he were to do this.  It would be like being reborn as an actor and us discovering Nicolas again in a new and refreshing way. smile

Personally CLC......I think that pretty much all that needs to be said on the subject has been said.   Let's move on to something else, ok?  Thanks
