I have always loved this dramatic moody and beautiful piece from Rachmaninov's vast library of works...

and this somewhat disturbing yet powerful interpretation caught my attention....

It certainly is disturbing, I almost wish I hadn't watched it. It does inspire discussion about artistic performance.

Beautiful playing.

The best experience I ever had reading Sherlock Holmes was when listening to Rachmaninov!

Disturbing, yes, but exquisitely performed and filmed.  I loved it!

*hugs lady Trueheart* hug I am sorry..go listen to somethng light and bright immediately as your medicine lady true! bouncyfrog

the darkenss of this appeals to me actually and the message resonates perhaps that's why it caught me as it did. dark art is sometimes the only thing cathartic onough to purge darkness ..the idea is not to dwell but to surface..i find the ripping off of the tape very liberating and the return to captivity highly symbolic.. and stepping back a little, it is exciting to see this classic piece of Rachmaninov portrayed this way, unique i feel, and compelling. it is a piece that deserves the drama!

can quite see how Sherlock Holmes and Rachmaninov would compliment each other Sprocket! *sweeps cloak across shoulder* it has been the soundtrack to parts of my life but possibly more Chopin...
