Just looked that movie up, Sprocket, it sounds right up my alley! So surprised I have never heard of it, going to check and see if we have it at the library, I really want to see it.

It's a just glorious feel Ladytrue! A real eccentric weepy, with lots of sterling siff-upper-lip bravery and romance, but pulled off in a freshingly non-jingoistic way!

It's by the same team that wrote, produced and directed The Red Shoes! :D

Gus Van Sant's 'Elephant'. I watched it in the morning and its been lingering all day, like a sticky penny in the pocket. It's a film about the Columbine High School Massacre, though 'about' might be the wrong word - it films the shadow of Columbine through the spectre of the event itself, if that seems possible. It's a very quiet film, which makes the violent all the more upsetting... I was expecting to find it pornographic, but it's so very muted, that would feel like an odd tag to thrust onto it. I think it is dubious to make what might be described as a 'formalistic' exercise about such a horrible tragedy, but then it is admirably non-prescriptive - violent video games, bullying, the social hierarchies of the school environment - all these things are cited, but when they're not detached from context; simply making up life, they seem insufficient to explain what happened. Maybe that's a cop out on Van Sant's part, I don't know. It's certainly a curious film and one I'll long remember, even while I don't know quite how I feel about it!

The last (Not Nic) movie that I watched was Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, but this makes the second time I've watched it. I first watched it in theaters but I just got it on DVD two days ago for my collection so now everybody can see how far behind I' am on getting my DVDs!

Gosh!  I want to see this movie sooo badly!!!  I knew it was good Kelsey!

I recently saw Tower Heist.  Edie Murphy is so funny... My favorite line from Edie in the movie is...

"I'm going to shoot your face, right off your face"

When I heard that line, I almost fell out of my chair!!!!  rolllaughrolllaughrolllaugh

The Edge of Heaven

Really a remarkable piece of narrative cinema by Fatih Akin. It's a small ensemble piece in which, impressively, no one thread felt less essential than the others. It played out with grace and deep sincerity, while always recognising the grubby and callous impulses people are capable of indulging, while also recognising the absolute need for mercy and forgiveness and how, often, good deeds can turn sour and unpleasant whims can mark lives forever. None of this feels over bearing or didactic though like it might in a Hollywood production. The film's time is split between Turkey and German (many of the character have dual Turkish-German identities) and I really felt that I got to know both places, especially Turkey. Also, wonderful, wonderful Hanna Schygulla is in it, still as canny an actor with an acute sense of heartbreak, after all these years since she worked with Fassbinder.

Basically, in short I'm normally someone who is sold by a film by merit of its striking images and memorable moments, rather than narrative. My favourite Nic films tend to favour his more mannered style and have quite episodic structures, like Wild At Heart or even Vampire's Kiss - Edge of Heaven is a proper narrative film, with naturalistic performances, no craziness, a subtle and workmanlike filming style and straight-up drama AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!

The last movie I saw was American history X, I liked it a lot! The movie is so learnfull and it is hard ans hocking but absolutely great. This could go on my favrite non Nic movies, here is the trailer, I can say the movie is definitly worth watching:

seeing the traile rmyself the first time I do think it is dissapointing, I can say I don't think it gives a good view on the movie it makes it look like a typical movie but it isn't, also the acting is great!

Recently, I watched the 2004 version of The Punisher with Tom Jane. Another example of an underrated comic book movie.

Here is the trailer, maybe a warning is usefull, to not watch it if you don't like these kind of movies.

And Eugene Levy rocks it as usual!

The last I saw was magic Mike, last night, and that movie was soooo good, here are a few smileys that describe it, and how the expierence feels:

At least, the parts with the shows, and where you could see a little more from Channing Tatum He has an absolutely amazing body. Though some disturbing scenes, wich is needed becouse otherwise there wouldn't be really a movie, wow damn it was great.

In the Theaters... Ice Age 3. I have to admit being a sucker for Sid the Sloth, with a major crush on Diego.

At home: I got the envees to pull out Twister and watch it. Really love that film.
