The Wizard Of Oz is probably one of my favourite films of all time ( obviously! )

I would love to have these propping up my books and keeping my door open!starry

Lol! The book ends are very special huh! And oh I drove my parents crazy for a pair of those sparkling ruby shoes when I first saw The Wizard Of Oz! I've had red shoes but not with the sparkle..they have to have the sparkle! I do have plenty of over the knee high stripey socks though I love them!

Oh my, Kels.... This we must remedy! There are people who totally don't get The Wizard Of Oz, and hate it every time it comes around at Christmas time! Do you want to see it? For me it's the movie of the imagination.... it's the ultimate magical fantasy with every element.... And even if you only watch it to get the references to it in Wild At Heart.....and my last two avatars...... YOU MUST SEE THIS FILM!!! starry

Tempted to post a clip but far better for you to dive right in to the whole movie and be submerged in it's flavour!

I have a sister who is totally creeped out by The Wizard of Oz.  Trying to talk to her about all the magical moments in the movie is like trying to talk to a wall.

Your sister is not alone White Fay... i know people who find the movie really petrifying..and it does have that dark element to it too...for me it's a very dream like filmscape..and elements are nightmarish.... when you consider how powerful a film has to be though to create that... Both the sparkly, colourful, trippy magic and the scary, gnarly darkness..(especially in those spooky woods..) it's like the light shines brighter! It also has that..i don't know the word...mythic.. archetypal?... quality..with the stories of the main characters and their individual journeys of self discovery...just love it! starry it's like a beautiful version of a fairytale...but not? Lol!

I never think of this movie as scary at all. Now if Shirley Temple had got the role of Judy that would have been scary. LOL

The books are darker than you would think though.

If they ever do a remake I nominate you know who for the wizard.
