Ooh well I have this existential fear of diving too much into the methods or systems of acting........ Film, Nic's film particularly, rescued me from my crisis around not being able to just submerge and be taken away by an artform (which was destroyed for me with literature when i went on to study it) so I don't want to start unpickin the magic! I just want to be in the flow with the character! My brain is so overanalytical I need almost to put up a barrier lol!
I know basically nothing about acting at all, I'm guessing this is Stanislavskis 'the system' as opposed to and distinct from 'method acting'? Rather synchronistically after watching Bad Lieutenant again last night I was thinking (curse that thinking mind) about how Nic had not gone so much for the method as he had done in Leaving Las Vegas...you know, shooting some scenes actually drunk and living with an alcoholic in his trailer during filming...thank goodness really it was only saccharin and not the hard stuff he was snorting up his nose...but then again alcohol is legal and 'drugs' are not... And now I'm rambling and must must must shut up!

I hear ya, Lula... but I always wanted to know what was inside the clock, even if I knew beforehand it would never strike on time again after a perusal of its insides...
