Check out the official website of the guys Nic is working with right now in Romania ~ writers and directors of 'Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance' Neveldine and Taylor!
Oooh that's interesting Voodoo child...something is resonating ... I think i may have seen some of this behind the scenes stuff too! Agree Lady T that the really fantastical scenes were obviously CG and with the stunts it was stunt men.... but the regular body shots? surely were Nic!
In other news, from Neveldine and Taylor themselves:
2 days ago: "principal photography begins on ghost rider SOV today!"
2 days ago: "idris elba, helicopters, motorcycles, russian arm and the the transfagarasanul....HOLY S*IT"
1 day ago: "day 1.5 on ghost rider SOV kicked epic ass
1 day ago in reply to "Question -- we will be seeing the same hellcycle in GR2?": "hell no!"
I wonder if there will be any elements at all similar to the first movie, for example to humour?
I was sure he was...I saw a TV program about making Ghost Rider like two years ago and they were showing some behind the scense parts, including the parts with actually Ghost Rider and it was Nic! It also was said there that one of the reasons Nic was playing GR was the gestures that only Nic could pull off. But now I'm really confused!
We are creating a whole physical language for the demon that is different from the human Blaze
Nic as we know is masterful at that aspect of creating characters..so cannot wait to see how he brings Ghost Rider version 2 to life!
Am i the only one who thought it was Nic playing Ghost Rider on the first movie? I know the skull was CG after being modelled on his skull, but I really thought the rest of the Ghost Rider was Nic!
Oh ho! It looks like they are sticking more closely to the origins of the Ghost Rider story then!
I'm not at all an expert on the Ghost Rider Legacy from the comics, but I think the whole origins of the Ghost Rider was Mephistopheles planting the soul of the demon Zarathos into Johnny Blaze? So Zarathos is just Ghost Rider and each time he emerges it is the essence of Zarathos rather than the divided elements within the soul of Johnny himself. Johnny is the host to the parasitic soul eater Zarathos. Then it becomes a bit like a Jekyll and Hyde scenario, does the demon side win out and the transformations become more permanent ?! Nic was already playing a double role with Johnny Blaze / Ghost Rider, so I wonder if this will make it a triple?! And how cool he the elements separate out and he does battle with 'himself'? Actually if you think about it, being the host to a demon is more hopeful in the sense that it is not your own dark side, if you can vanquish it.......
..."If Nicolas Cage really is playing both Johnny Blaze and the demon Zarathos in the upcoming Neveldine/Taylor "Ghost Rider 2," it is going to be a completely lunatic experience. The directors have been posting cryptic hints in their Twitter feed today, promising a "nic cage classic" from the dual performances. I'd be willing to believe them. When Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg told me about what Nic Cage had planned when he was going to be the villain in "The Green Hornet," including playing the entire film with a broad Jamaican accent, I was almost sad that it didn't happen. There's nothing more interesting than the moments where directors let Cage off the leash and he is free to play. He remains one of the most inventive, eccentric performers we've got, and it's genuine. He makes big, wild choices, and that's the reason he's remained worth watching for nearly 30 years now."
